if the government thinks they will keep these powers after the war on terrorism ends

Terrorism is a method and cannot be destroyed. The War on Terrorism, like the War on Drugs and the War on Poverty is perpetual. All powers ceded for the 'temporary' extent of the WoT are permanent.

Think I'm wrong? Ask yourself under what conditions the War on Terrorism could be declared over, and its war powers ended.

they will have to answer to me, and you.

LOL! And what are we going to do about it, 50 years after the fact (I'm being generous, the WoT will still be in full swing in 50 years), when two generations have never known a time without national ID cards? Will you sign a harshly worded petition? Write a letter to the editor or to your congressman? Yeah, that'll scare 'em. When both major parties are behind national ID and have been that way for decades, who will you vote for?

The only chance we have to stop national ID cards is today.

Well then you owe a solution to stopping the wot, how to id the illegals, how to track and incarcerate those who have been tagged as terrorists in the past.

I agree if the wot goes on and on it is ideal for a facist government to systematically erode our rights. But as long as the 2nd amendment is in effect we will have some control. I would estimate that the wot will only last about 10 years. That is sufficient time to tackle the regimes that are supporting and sponsoring terrorism. And identifying those among us who do not have the right to be here. After they are gone, we go back to calling them criminals, recinding the patriot act, and trying them in court. At this time, if national (or state for that matter) bio-cards were introduced, they could be discarded. Actually, I agree with you that if our drivers licenses had bio information that would be all that is needed. So it really is not necessary to have a national card. The data bases of each state would need to be peroidically screened to cancel multiple cards from multiple states, but that could be done.

Otherwise, we are going to be hit again and again, and still allow our borders to be open, and anyone with a fake id to have a visa.
