How about "thinking outside the box?" One of my personal favorites...

Jim VT: My recollection is that the phrase "at this point in time" and "at that point in time" became national catchphrases during the Watergate Hearings. I don't recall who said it first, but it was either Ehrlichmann or Haldeman who kept saying that phrase in answer to questions. It quickly became a catchphrase

Thanks for that explanation, that seems plausible; Watergate was a bit before my time, since I was only 4 years old and not really paying attention :-)

I wonder how THAT started?

Excessive use of the explression, "at this point in time" started during the Watergate scandal. I've forgotten which overblown bureaucrat coined it; but it was redundant then, just as it is wrong today. It was said all of the time by Haldeman or Erlichman or one of the other major figures.

Tubular. What, exactly, is "tubular" supposed to metaphorically conjure in one's brain, anyhow? I have never understood that word as used as an adjective. I mean, other than describing PVC pipe or something.

Dear old timers -

The use of the phrase "my bad" is another way to say "my mistake".

Don't get me wrong. I hate the butchering of the language but this is slang.

As much as I hate "my bad" with a passion.......I just thank God above that "paradigm" has fallen out of favor.

Now.......let's get on the folks who say "go with..."...as opposed to a complete sentence or even sentence fragment, such as "go with me.....go with them.....", etc.

If you've never heard anyone say "wanna go with?", count yourself fortunate. Grrrrrrrrrrrr...............

These get to me:

different than ("different from")

everyone has their ("everyone has his" or "her" or "his or her" if you're p.c.)

He thinks just like me. ("He thinks just like I"). 'Cause you're really saying "He thinks just like I do". You wouldn't say "He thinks just like me do".

He's not as conservative as you. ("He's not so conservative as you").

Dude, man, don't get yer panties in a wad. I mean, it's like, you know, like, you know, it's like, uhhhhhh...

"Like", in my opinion, should be stricken from common parlance. My buns are sore from me kicking myself in the a$$ everytime I accidentally, like, say it. [OW.]

Surf term -- from the tube formed by a wave. Very very very old -- from the 70's I think.

My bad. Someone else came up with the answer first!

My bad. explression = expression

that is truly a stupid phrase. This will be the first and last time I shall ever write, or say, "my bad." And I do hate "at this point in time" too.

This topic is "VERY DISTURBING" and no doubt was posted by some "RECKLESS" "UNILATERALIST". I would rather talk about the "HUGE DEFICITS" or "AFFIRMATIVE ACTION".
