You're looking at one of the problems I have alway objected to with takeovers. Basicly every old agreement is null and void when the new crew comes in. I may be off base, some legal person will correct me. But in essense, the old workforce is screwed blued and tatooed, no matter how you slice it.

You're exactly right. This corporate cannibalism reached its zenith in the 80's when smaller corporations were taken over by larger companies. Then, often, the smaller companies were sold for parts and a tax break.
Thousands of workers lost jobs in that era.

There was a time when companies thought their most important asset was their employees. They treated their employees as if this was the case (at least Hughes did) until the accountants and business majors took over running the companies. Now, employees seem to be treated as if they are a financial liability. I suppose the accountants and business majors can write the software that flies the jets today.
