A sleepy burglar with poor bathroom habits and even worse judgment was arrested in a Mineral Wells store Saturday morning, police said.
The burglar was found by employee Janie Sidener, who said the store, A Little Bit Country, was in disarray when she arrived to open for business about 9 a.m.
Sidener had emptied the cash register after closing the store Friday night, leaving only some change, which was scattered around the shop when she arrived, she said.
A Little Bit Country is a western emporium at 1001 E. Hubbard St.
As she looked for other signs of a break-in, she noticed that someone had used the store's toilet without flushing and had left a large black pistol on the bathroom counter.
And then, upstairs, she heard a man snoring in a big bed that is part of a bedroom suite for sale.
Sidener said she slipped away to call the shop's owner, Tamara Ford, who called police.
Officers woke up the intruder.
Sidener said the man was irritated, saying, "Hey, I was asleep!"
"I think he was a pretty dumb burglar," Sidener said. "Of all the places in town he has to break in to, he picks the DA's wife's shop."
Tamara Ford's husband is Palo Pinto County District Attorney Tim Ford.
The man's name could not be learned Saturday night, but a Sheriff's Department dispatcher recognized the description of the crime and said the culprit was in the Palo Pinto County Jail on Saturday night.
