If you thought the personal and professional attacks on Clarence Thomas were bad, just wait...

I'm happy and hopeful, but I'm sure that the left will break their collective necks to try to Bork her...

Black conservative ping

If you want on (or off) of my black conservative ping list, please let me know via FREEPmail. (And no, you don't have to be black to be on the list!)

Extra warning: this is a high-volume ping list.

Justice Janice Rogers Brown Biography

From the Calif. Supreme Court Website

Associate Justice Janice Rogers Brown

Since May 2, 1996, Janice Brown has been an Associate Justice of the California Supreme Court. From November 4, 1994, she was an Associate Justice of the Third District Court of Appeal in Sacramento. From January 7, 1991, to November 1994, Ms. Brown served as Legal Affairs Secretary to Governor Pete Wilson. The job included diverse duties, ranging from analysis of administration policy, court decisions, and pending legislation to advice on clemency and extradition questions. The Legal Affairs Office monitored all significant state litigation and had general responsibility for supervising departmental counsel and acting as legal liaison between the Governor's office and executive departments.

Prior to joining Governor Wilson's senior staff, Brown was an associate at Nielsen, Merksamer, Parrinello, Mueller & Naylor, a government and political law firm.

Before joining the firm in January 1990, Brown served for two and a half years as Deputy Secretary and General Counsel for the state's Business, Transportation and Housing Agency, working primarily with business regulatory departments. Brown came to BT&H after eight years (1979-1987) in the Attorney General's Office, where she worked in both the criminal and civil divisions.

From 1977 to 1979, Brown worked for the Legislative Counsel.

I confess to being surprised at how ineffective the minority gambit proved to be in the case of Estrada.

Everyone speculated how perilous and difficult it would be for RATS to smear a Hispanic. If there's any evidence that they've held back on Estrada, I sure can't see it. And this was without any paper trail or judicial record to demagogue. Had they found something to sink their teeth into, can you imagine how ugly it would have gotten?

As to any unwillingness to do such a thing to a black female, two words: Denise Majette!

I'm sadly of the opinion that RATs believe they've got such a hammer lock on the non-white vote that they can abuse them with impugnity so long as they use the canard that he's not actually "one of them." And they may be right!

I hope this is true. It will be wonderful to have a second conservative African-American on the court. Can't wait to see democrat reaction to her. The only thing that could make this better will be if she also happens to be lesbian!

mhking:

I read, with great interest, your contributions to this forum. I agree, and I am proud that we are on the correct side of the political arguments of the day.

After reading your artical on Judge Brown I did some internet search and found your analysis to be right on the money. She is hated by the left and she seems to be a constitutional scolar of solid reputation. Of course, that means nothing to the left. Judge Brown holds the Consitiution as the law of the land, whereas the left wants a 'living' document. Law doesn't 'live' we obey the law that is written. We also have the ability and the responsibility to change that law, if we see fit.

After reading the history and the decisions of Judge Brown I find her perfectly suited for the bench, and perfectly suited for a seat in the highest court in this land.

I would like to meet this lady and exchange ideas. This will never happen, but I believe she is an excellant candidate for a Supreme Court Justice.

Thanks again for pushing me to research Judge Brown. It was enlighting, and informative.
