Even as a kid, he sang a love song to a rat. Did anyone have any doubt he was going creep out as a human? The surprise to me is that he didn't just fade into trivia history, but the public - who I blame for really bad taste- instead opted to follow his story throughout his long and painful public decomposition.

He shouldn't be in the news at the same time as we are preparing to send real men into war. That just ain't right.

Not exactly. He sang the theme song for a movie about a boy and his pet rat, "Ben". The song was meant to depict the friendship in the film. How Jackson himself feels about rats is probably somewhat different.
