The head of the delegation, a former American marine, has been deported from Turkey for trying to enter the country with a “world citizen” passport after renouncing his United States citizenship.

I wonder if he ever read "The man without a country"?

He needs to go down to the embassy in what ever country he's in and renounce his citizenship before a counselor officer. Just publicly saying it means nothing.
