What is this, a rough draft on an article for "The Onion"?

Actually, this is typical France and Germany: a day late and a dollar short.

German is a language where even "I love you" sounds like a threat.

What is it they don't want the U.S. or anyone else to find?

Hold on now!

This tactic may actually work.

If a second resolution is written that demands international peacekeepers "in effect take control of the country for years," declare all of Iraq a no-fly zone and lead to agreements with Iraq's neighbors to crack down on smuggled exports of Iraqi oil.

The resolution would have to require approval from Saddam. He would say NO. He would have to, because in saying yes he loses all control of his country. This would give the Euro-weenies a chance to support the US. Remember that's all this is - a tactic to get on our side.

Der Spiegel said Germany and France are sounding out other critics of the U.S. approach about their plan, including Russia, China and Greece.

Hmmmmm. They don't want a U.S. victory right now. Where were they when Clinton bombed? No where. Hmmmmmmmm.
Maybe holding out the war until the U.S. votes in another socialist Democrat? Would they go that far for tax payer money? Democrats pay them off. Bush won't.

Hmmmm. That's a good theory.
I know they're afraid the U.S. will claim the oil, though, because of anti-American left wing commie propaganda. Maybe they're not kidding.
Crap.
Sneekie, what ever they're doing.

...They are so desperate to counter U.S. power and influence....

I would argue the action is about preserving influence.

When inventories of bad stuff are finally made, the labels will indicate lots of French and German companies have been selling Iraq. They have precious few customers because they have lost their ability to compete on the world maarkets and the loss of any customers is bad news.

So, let's get this straight...France, Germany and Russia get their oil $$$ (and arms sales), Saddam keeps Iraq and his Army, the UN saves face and credibility, the terrorists slip out scott-free and retain their state sponsor, and the U.S. takes it up thr A$$ and foots the bill for the 200k troops. GeeWiz, why didn't WE think of this brilliant plan? Good thing we've got a Veto. Go NOW GW - go in NOW!!!

Absolutely.

What's the worst that happens here? Sadaam is forced to leave, Germany and France have to deal with the costs and work of reconstructing a new goverment and stable state. We don't have to contribute as much, and hopefully suffer major losses in an invasion. We get to turn our attention to other pressing matters, leaving our allies to deal with a quagmire.

Sadaam stays, and like you say, it gives France and Germany and excuse to say - "hey we tried...".

If this has the effect of removing Sadaam without firing a shot - then I have more respect than ever for GWB's ability to play the game of International Relations.

Saddam will never agree to a no fly zone over his country.

But it does mention that the 'Axis of Weasels' are trying to convince Russia and China to back this plan.

If that happens, it's time to get out of the United Nations and truthfully, I think the public would go for it at this point. Maybe this is why W has been playing along with the UN for the most part? He believes this is a golden opportunity to officially place this worthless bunch of "peace-at-any-cost" morons on the dung heap of humanity with America's blessing.

If you think for a second that we'd let the "Old Eurowennies" pull some stunt like your nuts.

I dont think for a second that So-damn Insane would allow a "blue" helmet peace (of shit) Army into his country..Like a statement I read this morning..Send in the 300,000 American inspectors.

Hi were the new inspectors, and were gonna inspected everything from here to there, hee hee..have a nice day.

Hey, take a look at this. Translated from Der Speigel, a German Newsmag:

Germany and France work on an alternative plan for the disarmament Iraq. UN soldiers are to occupy and the work of the supervisors secure the country, announce the MIRROR. The invasion would take place with German participation. Momentarily the secret plan is agreed upon with Russia and China.
