No. There is one thing, and one thing only, that will make "mainstream" journalists override their natural allegiance to the DNC, and that one thing is the chance to Make History (and thus Become Famous and Win a Pulitzer in the process). And what better way to do that than to change the course of history itself and take down a presidential candidate?

I sure hope you're right, and I wish I could share your optimism.

My fear is that you are partially right. The media does love to take down a presidential candidate, but better still is to take down a sitting president. Especially if said president is a Republican, won his office by the thinnest of margins, and has been confounding their utopian socialist desires at every turn for the past four years.

I expect Gulf War II to be short, triumphant, and to bring the kind of accolades to George W. that his father enjoyed in Gulf War I. I also expect the leftist shills in the media to labor tirelessly to erode his favorable numbers just as they did to George H.W. Bush. If the economy is sputtering along their work will be easier, but expect them to "work harder than they have ever worked in their lives" to destroy W, to paraphrase William Jefferson Airplane Clinton, regardless of how happy and prosperous the nation may be next year.

Given a choice between gunning for Hillary! and venting their seething, corrosive hatred for President Bush, what do you think they will do?

An enjoyable thread to the extent that the mention of Hillary Regina does not trigger a VEA (Volcanic Emesis Alert) as it does in me.

Denver D. is largely correct. The amoral fifth column in this fair republic (the fourth estate) is both megalomanic and anti-constitutional. They would prefer to take down Bush. They will insulate HR WHEN she runs.

Many comments on this thread are both apropos and accurate.

1. HR will not run directly at POTUS.
2. She will bide her time, taking potshots at both emerging Dims and Bush - preying (sic) that Bush fails.
3. She will 'accept a draft' for VPOTUS if there is a hint of a stumble in Bush's march forward and be content with the heartbeat separation from the prize (after all, what's the Arky Mafia for...?)

I obviously do not share the anti-HR optimism of some Freepers or the faith in the propaganda-vulnerable and malleable middle of the electorate.
