CNN just announced that President Bush will speak at 4:30. That's all they said. Didn't sound like it was previously scheduled.

Well, that would be nice.
Could we bomb France instead? I am desiring to see an explosion or two.

Maybe Bush is going to announce that we are not going to support any French military action in the Ivory Coast.

I'd love to change my handle to resemble yours: it'd be LisaBuc, but I already changed it once, I'd be embarrassed to ask Jim to do it again.

Tony Blair just announced that there would be NO vetos I thought, when the Chinese foreign minister spoke yesterday, that China was going to abstain. Will France and/or Russia also abstain?

Bush was supposed to give a speech after Powell's presentation. Either way, THIS IS NOT THE WAR SPEECH. I don't know what the heck he is going to say, but it sure as heck is not going to be "the war has started."
Perhaps...and I have a feeling this may be it...Bush will tell the U.N. to get its butt in gear and pass a second resolution ASAP to support military force. If, after Feb. 14, we do not have such a resolution, then it is go time.

Sec. Powell has just informed me that the UN is officially irrelevant... ...along with Bubba Clinton, Larry King, Helen Thomas, Ted Turner and maybe even CNN.

I only have streaming radio at this moment. I'm tuned in to C-SPAN.
Do you think C-SPAN will cover President Bush's statement? Anyone?
To: over3Owithabrain; Wait4Truth
W4T is right. We don't have nearly the force we want in place. Bush doesn't want any surprises. If Hussein throws us a curve ball-- or OBL or whoever-- we have to have the firepower ready to respond immediately. They won't be in place for another couple of weeks.
If we knew for a fact that everything would go smoothly, we could go in tonight. We don't know it will, though.

Somebody laid down the law, I think.I agree. The President will allow a second resolution...if any one of those countries backstabs him and votes no, he will say the same thing he said in his 2000 convention speech:
YOU HAD YOUR CHANCE, YOU DID NOT LEAD...WE WILL!

Oh, I would settle for that ugly modernistic piece of junk Mitterand stuck on the front of the Louvres. A small bomb would shatter it and send a nice message, as well as improving the architecture.

Jim let you change your handle without having to create a new account? What favor did you have to do?

It's not as desirable today as in the past, but why not use the moon to our advantage?
