Carbonized Dictator And the best part of the forecast: Reign, ending suddenly, followed by a glorious break in the clouds, the likes of which not seen for over two decades.

He's doing it at 4:30 so as to be the headline for all the news shows -Yep ... and what President Bush will do in the speech is set a firm timeline as to when the U.S. will act militarily ... unless Iraq complies completely. This time line will probably be 72 or 96 hours ... no more.

What is the second Iraq resolution? That Iraq is in material breach? Or the authorization of the use of force? If there were a 2nd resolution, then yes, it would encompass both. My concern is that we lose all semblance of tactical advantage if we don't act BEFORE then... like maybe even ...now?

Usually, though, the President makes an official speech to the nation from the Oval Office. THAT'S the one I'm waiting for.Touché

Bush Will Reiterate Open to Second U.N. ResolutionThu February 6, 2003 04:07 PM ET WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Bush planned to reiterate on Thursday his willingness for a second U.N. resolution authorizing military force against Iraq, a senior Bush administration official said.
Bush, in a White House Roosevelt Room appearance with Secretary of State Colin Powell, will make the comment in the context of ensuring the relevance of the U.N. Security Council, the official said.
Security Council members France, Russia and China have all expressed reservations about going to war against Iraq, saying U.N. weapons inspections should be given more time, in spite of Powell's presentation on Thursday about Iraq's suspected weapons of mass destruction.
Bush will say that "we are open" to a second resolution authorizing force "if it is to make sure that the words of resolution 1441 of the U.N. Security Council mean something," the official said, referring to the November resolution demanding Iraq disarm

There are very few Dem senators not in line. Teddy Kennedy and Barbara Boxer are the two I can think of.
On the House side, Ron Paul, Peter DeFazio, Bernie Sanders and a few others are not in line and I don't expect them to be on the President's side.

Can you please add (Live Thread) to the title in breaking.
These could be interesting remarks by Bush:
Sec. Powell has just informed me that the UN is officially irrelevant...

Very disappointing if this is all Bush has to say. Clintonesque "ok we really mean it" crap. Hope it don't happen or I for one will lose some respect.
