A nice, salacious tale: bad cops, kinky sex, cruel behavior, and the magic ingredient---drugs. It's interesting, isn't it, that somehow, a preponderance of nutjob cops are working or have worked in narcotics or vice. Do normal cops with their head screwed on properly avoid working the sin beats like the plague?

Do normal cops with their head screwed on properly avoid working the sin beats like the plague? From everything I have ever heard, the answer is definitely "Yes".
Secondly, did you catch this:
She said her husband, a 16-year trooper and former department spokesman, had grown depressed over the past three years and was on anti-depressants.
The guy was on anti-depressants. Why should anyone who needs to take mind-altering drugs be allowed to be a cop?
White, who last year was assigned to the department's narcotics inspections unit, also tested positive for marijuana, records show.
Wonder if he ever "did drugs" before he had access to the evidence room and free drugs?

A nice, salacious tale: bad cops, kinky sex, cruel behavior, and the magic ingredient---drugs Ummmmm... this comment reminds me of the argument of the gun killing people, not the person behind it. Sure, drugs are a road to nowhere, but blaming the drugs for this type human behavior is incorrect. This behavior is rooted. Drugs only enhance it.
Just keeping things in perspective...

In one department I know of, there was a longstanding policy of allowing only 2 years on sin beats (vice, narcotics) for that very reason.

We have the makings here of a 'made for TV' movie.
It has all the ingredients PLUS no one has been killed yet.
I say we give Russell Crow the lead.

Others will say he was a good cop tho. So they should give him a pass. They are always good cops. Never is one considered a bad cop.

Police were again called to the house on Dec. 6, 2002, when White allegedly grabbed his wife and licked her face during an argument over taking the kids to school and shoveling snow.
I know I should be taking this seriously, but between the face-licking and pointing the gun at the butt, I'm crackin' up.

"a preponderance of nutjob cops are working or have worked in narcotics or vice. Do normal cops with their head screwed on properly avoid working the sin beats like the plague?" There is some truth to this but it is also true that Police work has and can take it's toll on people. It is a high stress thankless job. When officers start to go into crisis, most Police Departments treat them as used dishrags rather than get them Critical Incident Stress Counselling. This stress can manifest itself in many different ways.

Stoughton police Chief Manuel Cachopa said officers had been called to the couple's Southworth Court home three times before last week's incident. I thought that domestic disturbances were a automatic go to jail now.

White is being held without bail on attempted murder and assault charges at Bridgewater State Hospital.
He isn't beating his wife any more.

Accused wife-beating state cop Tim White and his wife led a hard-partying life of coke snorting and three-way sex that sent the respected trooper into a downward spiral of depression and violence, according to court records and affidavits obtained by the Herald. This can't be. Drugs don't make a BIT of difference in the life of one who indulges in them. After all, aren't we continually being told that all the REALLY successful people are dopers? ("Wall Street" is usually the example given).
And we ALL know that sex is just sex; it's a private matter, it's merely physical, no more "dangerous" than an addiction to sports on T.V.
I just don't get statements like this.
