Schism sets in as EU considers God's place in charter

BRUSSELS, Belgium (AP) - The debate over a constitution for the European Union has hit a tough hurdle: Should the charter invoke the name of God?

Some conservative EU officials want the EU's first constitution to mention God by name and define European values as including "those who believe in God as the source of truth, justice, good and beauty."

Europe is a lost cause as more and more it is overrun with Islamofascists. Why does a devout Catholic nation like Poland wants to get involved with the EU is beyond me.

Much of "Old Europe" has slowly abandoned Christianity, which once gave them dignity.

The EU is a Christian Union and should so be stated in the Charter.

Let' review our history.

Spain has a strong communist faction which grows into an open revolt. A young general, Franco, upon seeing his CATHOLIC priests and nuns MURDERED BY COMMUNIST 'freedom fighters', gathers forces to defeat these COMMUNIST'freedom fighters'.* He realises that the only way to ensure Spain's protection from COMMUNIST 'freedom fighters' backed by Stalin's USSR, is to align himself with a willing allie in Hitler. He uses Hitler for arms and munitions, and fights successfully agianst the COMMUNIST'freedom fighters'. When Hitler asks for help from Franco, Spain(Franco) decides not to support Hitler, and keeps Spain neutral. Upon his death, he leaves instructions for the King of Spain to continue to be recognised.

Franco did what he thought best to save his Spain from ATHEISTIC COMMUNISTs. "the grace of God" may have been what helped him save his country.

In the end, was he really wrong?

I have often described myself as a Phlangist.

*Abe Lincoln Brigade was a communist para-military unit from the US, which had some really stupid people in it. They were not fighting for freedom, but for communism.

I guess it's safe to say the charter will not talk about fundamental rights conferred by nature and nature's God.

It is an admirable effort to try to infuse god into the EU, but the overall thrust of this group is atheistic, humanistic, socialism.It should be renamed the Union of European Socialist Republics or UESR.
