Schumer (D-NY) on C-SPAN2 NOW! (The Filibuster Against Estrada Has Begun)
CSPAN2 ^

Charles Schumer is rambling idiocy now about how ideology MUST be used in determining judges. Schumer laughably calls himself a moderate.

Have they adjourned? What's going on? This isn't on C-SPAN 2 anymore. What ended up happening?

Ya...used the lefty PFAW web site to send him a fax supporting Estrada's nomination, and insisting that is the Dems wanna filibuster, they actually be MADE to filibuster!
To: Steve_Seattle
Have the Dems referred to any actual position Estrada has taken on any actual issue, or is this just an extended mouth fart? Bender has claimed Estrada is an extremist, but I don't think he's cited any actual positions, and I'm unaware of anyone else who has. The NY Times editorial that came out against Estrada did so on the basis of his lack of a paper trail.

Lucky you - a former New Yorker. Pity us poor souls who
are stuck here with the likes of Hitlery and Chuckie Cheese and a rep in the form of loonie Louise Slaughter...The agony never ceases...

What if the D's aren't there in the senate? Can a number of senators less than 60 vote to end the fillibuster? IIRC they can do a quorum call, end cloture on the spot and pass what they need in the middle of the night if need be.
Worked for their pay raises that's for sure.

Me too. I'm a NYer and a conservative Republican (yes, in NY). I'm staying here fighting instead of giving in to the rats. I guess we and the California Freepers have an uphill battle. heheh... Ugh! At least you don't have to suffer through having B.Boxer as your Senator. Man we have gone to war twice against that woman, but she prevailed. Hopefully third times the charm. Fortuantely, Joe Davis and the state Democrats have painted themselves into a corner this time. The state is financially drained, and they are going to be forced to raise eveyone taxes. They are even considering rollback Prop 13 which would be political suicide on their parts. It's fun to watch them squirm. As for me I am staying here where the weather is nice and continuing to vote Republican.

I know where you're coming from on doing ministry in NYC.
For short while in the mid 90's I worked for a drug/alcohol rehab ministry in Brooklyn. I've also done some ministry work in New Orleans.
I once had a heart for urban ministry. Now I don't care if I ever set foot in a big city again.
I know its wrong but I almost see major urban areas as the enemy of America, especially when I see people like Schumer, Clinton, and others who get into office because the city vote outweighs the rest of the state. I seriously think it's time to redraw some state lines.

Interesting. If could persuade my family to leave NY, either No. or So. Carolina would be my choices. Any particular reason you chose No. Carolina over So. Carolina?

Hope he hasn't had too much coffee. I was channel-surfing the other night and caught a snippet of one of those "strangest home videos" - an alderwoman of some urban city council somewhere in this wacky country of ours was fillibustering some "cause." She had to relieve herself, but didn't want to loose the floor and hence the fillibuster. So what did she do? Read below, but
warning, barf alert:
Her fellow alderpersons made a make-shift porta-potty for her with tablecloths and who-knows-what for a recepticle - RIGHT THERE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FLOOR of the municiple building! Lookers-on were tossing toilet paper down at her from the balcony. When she had finished her business, her cohorts (they all had that evil eye look of Jesse Jackson's cronies) all smugly clapped at their desecration of legal proceding.

montag, are you in NY?? Schumer must be defeated. I am a political consultant based in NYC. And yes, he must be destroyed. And he will. Let's all join forces to do so.

My aunt, uncle, and 2 cousins moved to NC back in 1990. I visited them one time for 2 days and really enjoyed the place. Plus coming from an IBM family, and IBM moving many people to the RTP area it was likely that my parents and more aunts and uncles would follow as well. And they did.
Plus NC is not quite as backwood, redneck, deep south as SC! HA! Just having some fun. But those I know who did move to SC did not enjoy it at all so I didn't think that I would either.

Pataki won't step down in mind term for a senatorial race. I bet gulliani against Chuckie and Pataki (Powell?) against Hillary in 06. Both try for the Republican nomination in '08.
