Everyonce in a while, we end up with a side discussion of who's state has the worst pair of senators.....you ain't even close.....NY, California, Mass, and MD are WAY ahead of Wash in the most rotten senators contest......course, the most schizo state is Iowa, with Grassley and Harkin.....I can never, ever figure that one out..

Capitol Hill switchboard is 202-224-3121

Or, (800) 648-3516.

Call early and call often.

The Democrats would certainly get a lot of public attention if the filibuster carries over to the start of the war with Iraq.

Senates in session, but they're voting on a tribute to the shuttle crew.

I agree completely. What a constrast: Bush at war, and the democrats whining about a judge who is not even up for the Supreme Court.

Hello 2004!

WOO HOO!!! Hel-lo GOP Landslide 2004!!!

Does anyone have a graphic of the guy in the '80 TV series Shogun, you know, the guy commiting ritual suicide...this is such a wonderfully stupid thing for the DNC to do...

No. They are currently voting on the Columbia Astronaut Resolution. Wanna bet it passes unanimously?

9 minutes left to the vote (tribute to shuttle crew) - most members aren't in the room yet. Maybe this delay is part of the strategy..

"I called both my senators yesterday about this planned filibuster. Both pleaded ignorance and said they hadn't heard about any such thing. I told them that even if they don't vote for Estrada - which they should - they should certainly not support a filibuster. They said they would pass it along."

I'm in the same boat with you. (Feinstein and Boxer) It's sickening isn't it?

Washington Post today editorially opposes filibustering Estrada: Filibustering Judges .

If the Washington Post's editorial board opposes this filibuster, I don't imagine the RATs in the Senate will have much support if they go ahead with this.

Democrats, led by Schumer, also argue that the confirmation process "must be slowed down," so as to thwart what is seen as a Republican attempt to establish what one source called "an automatic assembly line of controversial nominees."

Can anyone translate the above paragragh into common English?

By the way, anyone can contact any US Senators' office toll-free by calling

877-762-8762

The operator transfered me to my Florida senators quickly, but I had to redial several times because the number was busy.

Senator Graham (D, Florida) is in the hospital and will not vote this week, according to his staff.

Senator Nelson (D, Florida) has not made up his mind yet about Estrada, but the staff member wrote down my name and phone number as a supporter for Miguel Estrada.

Yes, but those groups each consist of about 25 people with direct links to the DNC. The regular voters couldn't care less about things like this. All they'll see is the RATS bringing the Legislative Branch to a halt while screeching "NO NO NO NO NO NO" over and over like a bunch of spoiled brats, and doing it to a highly-qualified Hispanic at that.

Agree 100%. But those 25 folks own the Democrats the way Michael Corleone owned Fredo. So, they'll drink the Kool-Aid and throw away the Hispanic vote because their base says so. They did the same thing from 1972 to today on national security issues - they know the appeasers and pro-communists are a minority, but they don't care because that's their base.

I can't translate it but, how many times are you going to filibuster? The Demos are gonna get pretty worn down. After a couple of these, it's gonna sound like, 'The sky is falling' - Especially when papers like the Post turn against them.

Thanks! What's the item of business now? Can't wait to see their "strategery" for this. We'll see if they were bluffing about the filibuster.

Especially when papers like the Post turn against them.

The real issue is that in the future when the tables are turned the GOP will use this precedent to filibuster when they are in the minority. At some point this escalating war on appointments needs to be toned down.
