They say his nomination is one that should be stopped for several reasons, not the least of which is their opinion that the base is "particularly energized" over the issue. This is a mistake on the part of the democrats. Hispanics are not yet as politicized as blacks. A large part of the hispanic community will take offense at this, as it is an attack on one of them.

Bill Frist should announce on Democratic sponsored legislation will be voted on as long as the Dems filibuster Miguel Estrada. That means no pork for their own constituencies. Let's see then if they'll still put on their stupid talkathon against the President's nominee cause they don't like his politics to begin with. I'm also sure it will also do wonders for their image in Hispanic communities across America.

I called my DemoRat Senator Hollings Office this afternoon to find out how he was expected to vote. They said that the Senator had not made up his mind. I said, What? The vote is this afternoon and he has not decided how to vote yet? I told them to tell the senator to confirm the nomination. I think he is waiting for the polls to come out before making a decision. What an idiot.

But they HAVE to talk!True enough, especially since I don't habla espanol. :)

I can't count nine Democrats who would vote to end a filibuster. I think it would take nine assuming Jeffords votes with the Dems.

Call every one of their offices and raise Hell. Capitol Hill switchboard is 202-224-3121.
Thanks, mw11. I called my two senators about an hour ago.

Call their bluff! I want to see televised coverage of the Dems filibustering this well-qualified Hispanic nominee! That will play REALLY well in several states, especially California!
Dubya is a great believer in giving his opponents LOTS of rope, and allowing them to hang themselves. The Majority Leadership in the Senate should say in response to the Democrats, "Go ahead & attack this good man for as long as you want. We'll wait for you to finish your attacks, then we'll vote him on the DC Circuit!"

Possible nine: Zell Miller, John Breaux, Max Baucus, Ben Nelson...Hmmmm - having trouble here.
I can't stand the democrats. The problem with the darn Senate is the dems are mostly far left liberals and the GOP has too many RINOs.
I hate the Senate.

If I understand a filibuster, the filibuster-ors must talk and command the floor non stop until they quit....night and day. Nothing says that the filibuster-ees have to stay there and listen.....So let them filibuster.
Kennedy can maybe make it for, say, 5 min. Hillary is good for maybe an hour. John Edwards can make it for a couple of hours....etc,etc.....The Democrat wimps can't put on a credible filibuster...the weasles are not that dedicated about anything..they describe themselves as "centrists" don't you know.....When they get tired, they will decide that Estrada is not such a bad guy after all.....
Pass the gravy.......

Hispanics are not yet as politicized as blacks. A large part of the hispanic community will take offense at this, as it is an attack on one of them. Agreed. But the part of the Dim base that is "energized" about this is the pro-abortion feminists, NEA and other militant secularists. They own the Democratic Party and will risk alienating the Hispanic vote to enforce the party line on abortion. It all comes down to abortion - and has since Bork.

I'd like to see DUBYA get on TV and blast the Dems, first in English and than Spanish.
Let's face it, they still think they won the election and shud be appointing their judges. How dare G.W.Bush run as a conservative and appoint conservative judges!

Maybe Bob Graham (if he wants to run for Prez, he can't antagonize the FL hispanics), Dorgan, Hollings (voted for Thomas, didn't he?), Pryor, even Landrieu?

I would have thought KKK Byrd could give it a short, however he wouldn't have anything to talk about either. Billie is dead.

This is awesome news. The RATS just dig themselves in deeper and deeper.

The C-Rats prefer only old white guys, or so it would appear from long experience. You substituted "guys" for the word "liberals".

Yep. If Byrd joins in, and if we can get video of him opposing the nomination on the floor of the Senate, then WE can play the race card on the left for a change. I like it. I like it a lot.

Agreed. But the part of the Dim base that is "energized" about this is the pro-abortion feminists, NEA and other militant secularists.Yes, but those groups each consist of about 25 people with direct links to the DNC. The regular voters couldn't care less about things like this. All they'll see is the RATS bringing the Legislative Branch to a halt while screeching "NO NO NO NO NO NO" over and over like a bunch of spoiled brats, and doing it to a highly-qualified Hispanic at that.

Take a good look, America: The Democrat Party, I'm ashamed to say a party I once supported, is about to attack an innocent man.

Called my 2 senators in Idaho. Craig (R) assistant knew what was going on, Crapo's (R) said I was the first person to call in Estrada's favor. Sounds like the Dems have ramped up their call banks.
Come on Idaho Freepers, get on the phones.
