The Media, the elites, academia, and Hollywood still look at everything through the narrow, constricting prism of Vietnam. Everything is Vietnam. Boys died needlessly in Vietnam. We stopped the war. We brought down a president. Bobby died and the world went to hell in a handbasket, ad naseum.

the narrow, constricting prism of Vietnam Agreed -- and the media also seem to have a mindset now of the "great power of the press" -- how they can turn people against the horror of war(or some such BS)

We stopped the war. We brought down a president. In the chaos and social agitation we wrought, we significantly advanced the cause of moral nihilism, allowing us to break the bonds of patriachial social institutions such as the family and engage in abortion and infanticide, acts that give us the ultimate feeling of freedom and which later became a political bludgeon we could use to fight back majoritarian ideals for society on many fronts.
