I believe Gere is basically left-wing, but not in a rabid partisan sort of way. He is way into the Tibet/Buddah thing and I have always felt that his public statements on world events (while "out there") were spoken from the heart and his true convictions. Just my two cents.

Any guy that can stand on a podium directly after 09/11 and damn the US for it's plans to rectify the situation, is so far out there they don't have a zip-code for his location. In fact, they don't have a quadrant name for that sector of the universe. This man gets booed by the left he's so friggin far out there, and I'm not talking about when he expresses what seem to be conservative views. Gere is brain damaged. Think with the big head...

I agree. I think Gere's stuff is often on the outer rings of Saturn, but I do believe he speaks in earnest, unlike the cynical rantings of other residents of the Holly-ward.
