If this happens, and the recall election is held, and Davis loses he may want to look for a job in an LA taco stand, because his political career is TOAST! It couldn't happen to a nicer guy!

Please God, make my day and save California at the same time.

To all Cal FReepers.........HOOOOORAH!

Where do I sign!? Davis actually said he's "not responsible" for the $38 billion deficit. paaa-thetic. If he's not "responsible" and has "no idea" how it happened, then he too incompetent to fix it. Recall him!!!!!!!

These people have no concept for using one's time wisely.

They should spend their time on defeating Barbara Boxer. Davis will be the state's governor until he leaves in 2006.

This is really irritating. No wonder the CA-GOP is so hapless.

Just going by the article, which gives the 1.2M figure. Half that would be much more attainable, but it doesn't make sense for the size of CA.

A recall drive will require around 1.2 million signatures to get a recall election on the ballot.

Shawn Steel is saying only 675,000.

Send Gray Davis and Boxer back to New York where they originally came from. Preferably in a trailways bus.

Half that would be much more attainable, but it doesn't make sense for the size of CA.

The number is based upon the turnout of the prior election, not upon total State population.

I dunno, unless a recall ELECTION is actually successful, my guess is this will do far more harm than good to the GOP.

And if it is successful, how does Governor Cruz Bustamante sound to you?

What are the odds of getting 1.2M sigs

They can get that many just by hanging out at the beach in Orange and San Diego counties.

Btw, heard on the radio that the car fee hike is dead in the water. Let the good news keep on coming...

Yep. And don't think that these two things are unrelated. Davis' first instinct is political survival.

I understand that this is a BIPARTISAN effort, not just GOP sour grapes. Pat Cadell (sp?), former pollster for Jimmah Carter, is working on the left on this recall effort. This was discussed this morning on KSFO, the Lee Rodgers and Melanie Morgan show, and yesterday as well. Shawn Steel was on, and he made it clear that it is a bipartisan effort.

I think we should be putting our efforts into stopping the VLF if Doo fus signs it. Are the Repubs going to go to court to block it?

Having run initiatives (not in CA), I'm aware of that. I just can't believe there are that few people in CA actually voting in the general.

It isn't the CA-GOP. They couldn't organize a closet. This is an independent group of taxpayer advocates.

Actually, I remember that name from way back in the early 80's when I lived in CA. Best wishes to all of you. It will require everyone to be involved.

675K VALID signatures. You have to gather twice that many to make sure you get enough good ones.
