California: Democrat Governor Davis will be served with recall papers on Wednesday
San Diego KOGO AM600, Roger Hedgecock Show

Ted Costa, of Paul Gann's group People's Advocate, just announced on the Roger Hedgecock Show in San Diego that a People's Advocate process server will be serving recall papers on Governor Gray Davis on Wednesday, February 5. Costa and his group has been involved in over a dozen ballot petition drives and has qualified every one of them that's he's undertaken. A recall drive will require around 1.2 million signatures to get a recall election on the ballot.
Costa said that contrary to what most people think, a recall can occur at any time after an election. It's only if a recall fails that a 6 month waiting period must be observed before another recall can be attempted. He cited the case of Paul Horcher, whose recall was initiated "within hours" of his election.
The People's Advocate website is not yet up, but will carry information about the recall effort in a few days.

What is it about banzai charges that attracts so many Republicans? Here's the ugly truth: The average California voter wouldn't vote to recall Davis even if he were in their living room searching the sofa's seat cushions for spare change. It ain't gonna happen. Oh well. Banzai!!!

If you have a bump list for this, put me on it please.

I think we should be putting our efforts into stopping the VLF if Doo fus signs it. Are the Repubs going to go to court to block it? That battle has been won. Davis has announced that he'll definitely veto it.

Political survival. Yeah, he's treading water looking for the nearest telephone pole to crawl up on. I still have a "Dump Davis" bumper sticker, and if I'm careful I can peel it off my printer and slap it back on the trunk of my car :-D

I don't have a bump list for this specifically. There's one for California issues in general. Ernest_at_the_Beach maintains it.

That battle has been won. Davis has announced that he'll definitely veto it.Well, Well, Well...That does that mean he and Burton will have a duel in the streets of Sacramento?

"A recall drive will require around 1.2 million signatures to get a recall election on the ballot." And I want mine to be one of them!

Well whether it is succesful or not, it will help bring attention to Red Davis and his shortcomings, and derail him politically at any rate.

I say let Davis stew in his own juices for the next four years. Perhaps then the people of California will realize that the DemocRATs are a disaster.

I circulated a petition during the last recall effort and I will do it again.
Sitting around and enduring outrage after outrage by a completley incompetent, corrupt "governor" doesn't work for me. I'd rather do anything I can to try and remove him before it gets worse, which it will if he's allowed to continue.
If we fail to recall him again, then at least we tried and can't blame ourselves.

"What do you know about these folks?" They are the people to whom we owe the very existance of Proposition 13, the tax limiting law, AKA the Jarvis-Gann initiative.

You have no idea how tired we are of Gov Davis and the sleeze he represents.
He needs to be replaced immediately. The people of California will be given a second chance to keep the state from going totally corrupt and bankrupt.
It appears an attempt to loot CALPERS is now being made to cover the budget shortfall and to payoff cronies.
He must be stopped NOW! The rest of the country may not even be able to afford Davis!

Definitely worth the effort. When you really feel kicked in the gut is when you qualify for the ballot and it loses by a few %. All you can do is shake your head at the people of your state.....

Ha Ha, I pinged you first! :)

Successful or not, a recall is going to put Davis in the position of having to move to the middle (i.e. not jack up lots of taxes) or risk losing. It'll also hit him at a vulnerable time, having depleted his resources in the last election, and having alienated many of his former big donor groups. Indeed, some of old allies might end up working against him. The California Teacher's Association is running radio spots attacking him!

I'm hopping up and down doing the "pee pee" dance waiting for this to get going....;>

All my DUMP DAVIS stickers are still in place on the bumper and the trash and recycle carts. My Simon for Gov is still there too ! :-)

They are an affiliate group. They share much of the same interests-- namely beating Barbara Boxer.
To: John Jorsett
I'll sign it but who do we get in his place? Bustamante? Good heavens. That would be even worse.
