2 Ground Zero design teams picked
Choices narrowed to Studio Daniel Libeskind and THINK
By Jan Herman
MSNBC
NEW YORK, Feb. 4 As competing factions jockeyed to decide a Ground Zero template for the future, officials Tuesday narrowed their choice of urban-design proposals to two one by Studio Daniel Libeskind and one by the THINK team. Libeskins design proposes a 1,776-foot tower and would make visible the great slurry walls that descend into the bedrock foundations of Ground Zero. THINK envisions a tower even higher, a lattice-work scaffolding that would soar 2,100 feet. Both towers would be the worlds tallest structure.

I agree. Both designs are awful. They need to either rebuild the Towers as they were or come up with something relatively similar. Those mesh structures resemble amusement park rides.

No more little Brasilias!
Give us something pretty that fits into the skyline like a Neo-Art Deco with a promenade.

Liebskind will surely be chief designer in hell.
This is wildly ugly and unsettling.

Here is a photo of the concept. Definitely the direction to go. Call the NYC LMDC and tell them to ashcan the two current considerations.

I think the Memorial Circle is delightfully overwrought and gigantically stonehengian. It gets my vote.

Both towers would be the worlds tallest structure. I don't see how the 1776 foot spire is a contender for this designation.

I don't see how the 1776 foot spire is a contender for this designation. I don't understand why the Petronas Towers are considered taller than the Sears Tower, when when are not.
