Believe it or not, as you will. I personally think the terrorists are willing, capable, and wouldn't hesitate to mounts such attacks, if they have the means. And we don't know whether they have such weapons or not, from various reports, it appears that they may.
Of course we all hope that their plans will be foiled.
It's an unsafe world we live in.

It is, indeed, an unsafe world.
If this were anybody but DEBKA, I'd be concerned.

I think the most realistic part of this is the hit
squads against Wesern targets.

It was also in the Washington Times, also posted here, although they were not quite as explicit.

Arrests of al Qaeda terrorists disrupt plans for attack
By Bill Gertz
THE WASHINGTON TIMES
Al Qaeda is planning a mass-casualty attack to rival September 11, but preparations have been disrupted by arrests of terrorists during the past several months, according to U.S. intelligence officials.
"The attack will be large-scale," one official said.
Additionally, the intelligence reports stated that any major attack is likely to be preceded by smaller-scale strikes, including assassinations of prominent people in the United States, the official said.

Be assured, if they ever acquire the capability, they will. These people are raving lunatics.

Often there is at least some truth in Debka's statements to some degree. I've heard that the closer to the Middle East, the truer the statements from Debka.

If this were anybody but DEBKA, I'd be concerned. Fox news and Gertz are saying the same thing.
I am sure every media outlet will have a variation on it.
Are you concerned now?

You can rail against Debka, but the arrests in Europe were not imaginary.

>>interrogation of the dozens of terrorist suspects in custody revealed that Iraq and Saudi intelligence agents continue to provide the terror cells with operational intelligence, while Saudi institutions and bodies are al Qaedas primary source of funds and manpower.
Those Saudis again.....

You haven't seen me rail unless you see me posting to a Larry Klaman thread.
Look, Debka isn't all bad, I just don't get myself all worried over their stuff.
If I took 1/2 their news seriously I'd be living in a 10 X 10 X 10 box buried in my back yard.

Say,... where are those thousands of liters of anthrax and botulism toxins, anyway?
Saddam must surely know they won't do him any good stored under some palace until after the attack.

People on the left ask for evidence that Iraq works with the terrorists. This is like asking if ice cream works with apple pie. The left accuse our own "secret agencies" of cooperating with terrorists and committing terror here and abroad, but don't ever stop to think that Iraq is just as capable, if not even that much more likely given their form of government, to be doing exactly what they accuse us of doing.

Given the success of the snipers months ago, I'm sure the Islamo-idiots took note. Add to that the rabid wish of the Dims to disarm us all spells disaster.
I live in a nice part of Portland, however it is 6 blocks from what has been described as the most radical mosque in America. Also about a mile and a half from the apartment complex where the 'Law' picked up the local 'cell' several months ago.
I'm just afraid that the NEXT round of assasination-poison-gas attacks where many are killed is the only thing that will slap the idiots in this country back to their senses. (If they ever had any sense to begin with)

Thanks for the ping.
This alludes to Saudi intelligence, a governamental function.
I believe our government is still clinging to the notion (which may have validity) that there are "good" Saudis and "bad" Saudis in their power structure.
At the end of the day, what does it matter if the intelligence and funding to exact catastrophe on us comes from Saudi Arabia ?
Watch for the Saudi royals to flee en masse to Switzerland, just as they did on 9-11.

There is nothing in this report out of bounds with what we know. I have heard other reports (via Hugh Hewitt's radio program) that the Israelis believe there will be nuclear weapons of some sort utilized and are preparing for that eventuality.
