NASA has asked that tests involving freon free foam be witheld. What are they hiding?
Article shows a NASA engineer noting the difficulties in creating the same characteristics.

Yesterday in the briefing they said they would release data as soon as their engineers had a chance to review it and today they are taking off as a Memorial to their friends and colleagues that were killed.
Just think that some news organizations are rushing to judgment along with some people. Do I believe that envionmentalists have caused havoc with a lot of things including perhaps this foam I would suspect -- I sure do!
I was just pointing out that NASA is pouring over data as fast as possible and from what I heard yesterday would be releasing it rapidly. Their point is that there was probably a much larger problem with the shuttle than just tiles being hit on lift-off.

another piece to ponder
One of Israel's leading newspapers published a photograph it claims as evidence of two cracks in the left wing of the Columbia more than a week before the space shuttle broke up on re-entry, killing all seven crew members
Sam Segal, who is in charge of Maariv's U.S. office, in New York, told WND that the photo actually belongs to NASA, since it was taken from NASA video footage.
Maariv has not contacted NASA to attempt to verify the photo, Segal said, insisting that the responsibility lies with Israeli television, which was his paper's source.

In my early days as an electical engineer, I did many 'as built' drawings.
Well lets just say that the constuction was frequently different than the design drawings and people didn't care about the as builts

LOL! "common sense" and your BS have no relationship. Before all the debris hit the ground you were on FR proclaiming that the shuttle was doomed before it even launched. All you're doing is repeating will speculation, quoting one disgruntled ex-employee out of many thousands (and who could think Miss Cleo is God for all we know) and parroting every wacko rumor that pops up.
"As I said Saturday night..." You've been saying a whole lot...all wild rumor, speculation and absolute crap. And now we have Bill O'Reilly on the job? Well move over Miss Cleo.

I'm wondering why the insulation couldn't be reinforced with the kind of plastic mesh used to bag oranges and Christmas trees.
I also suspect that when they say foam, they mean ice attached to the foam.

I see you and world net daily are still trying to claim that this photo is of the wing and damage to the wing when you already know that BS was debunked a long time ago...what a fool.
To: TLBSHOW
Where was that perpendicular shot of the wing taken from?

Two other things bother me.
NASA estimated that the foam was only 2lbs. Ok, but what about foam filled in with ICE, 10-20-30 lbs?
The vector that the ice/foam hit the wing was glancing. AT 13 to 16 degrees per the briefing, ok not so much force. BUT CNBC just said the hit was on the leading edge of the wing= 90 degree hit X mach 4 X 30 lbs.
So with these new assumptions, the model could get a much different answer.

Advance knowledge of the problems with the foam means CIVIL LIABILITY, BIG BUCKS.
To: aristeides
Advance? NASA has been warned about problems for years!

The vector that the ice/foam hit the wing was glancing. In support of the ice/foam theory, the object which struck the wing DID appear to shatter after contact.

It's not the wing (as he well knows) but of the inside of one of the cargo bay doors. But that would detract from his crusade of crap.

Since 1999 the launch system has experienced the following potential disastrous occurrences:
July 1999 - Space Shuttle Columbia delayed by hydrogen leak.
December 1999 - Space Shuttle Discovery was grounded with damaged wiring, contaminated engine, dented fuel line, and paper work errors.
January 2000 - Space Shuttle Endeavor is delayed because of wiring and computer failures.
March 2000 - Space Shuttle Atlantis main engine must be replaced because of paperwork errors.
August 2000 - Inspection of Space Shuttle Columbia reveals 3,500 defects in wiring. Wiring defects plague entire fleet.
October 2000 - The 100th flight of the space shuttle was delayed because of a misplaced safety pin and concerns with the external tank.
April 2001 - NASA failed to keep adequate watch on safety operations of a major contractor.
July 2002 - The inspector general reports that space shuttle safety program not properly managed.
April 2002 - Hydrogen leak forces scrub of the Atlantis flight.
August 2002 - Shuttle launch system grounded after fuel line cracks are discovered in all the fleet!
Dec. 12, 2002 another Shuttle propellant leak found!

Recalling my statics and vectors reminds me that the sine term or vertical component is relevant.
WEll sin(90) = 1 one . This would be the direct hit scenario.
Sin(13) is about .22. So the glancing blow has only one fifth the force all things being equal.

ITNC...you won't find a single reference in the posted article to 'withholding' of information. A simple search on FR under the word "foam" will bring up many articles already posted on this angle. Contrary to what some would like to think...it's not a secret, and it's one possibility being reviewed along with all other data.

And the Environmental Protection Agency...
Yep, protecting some insects, birds, and kangaroo rats is far more important to environmentalists than protecting the life of 7 astronauts..

There are several things wrong with this picture, and the high curvature of the earth is certainly an, uh, "enhancement" of reality.
However, I saw on ABC this morning an image that looked like where this fuzzy-looking thing came from, and it was a lot easier to fathom. The "cracks" were ground strap wires, or some other fastened set of wires, and they did NOT appear to be on a wing, in any event.
Somebody tampered with an image, trying to send up a snow job.

And let's not forget:
Feb 2003, TBLSHOW grounded because he's too full of crap.
I'll leave you to your delirious little crusade of crap now...keep running in circles, yapping and piddling on the floor.

Frustrating, isn't it?
