Todd who? Thanks to handy-dandy program on my laptop, his name and disjointed and whacky commentary no longer shows up on my screen. I'll have to send you the code!

Reposting the relevant segment from the article... In 1999, the Southwest Research Institute, a non-profit laboratory in San Antonio, Texas, fired insulating foam fragments from a compressed-gas gun into thermal tiles and recorded the results with digital cameras. After the Columbia crash, NASA asked the institute not to release those results. The space agency also has tested the foam in wind tunnels and aboard a research jet.

Geetings Quilla, FReepers, et al:

Just wondering: How many ex-NASA employee wacko's go off the deep end each month?

Given the employee base of NASA, the US White House might have a big collection of "safety issue" letters.

It really would be easier for some folks around here to just run around the forest with their hair on fire screaming, "Look at me! Look at meeeeeeeeee!". At least it'd be more entertaining.

I think that this may be a new article that came out today. You may want to compare the two.

Again I have emphasized a key point in the article which is being missed and that is why I used it as the title.

I am not here to offend anyone.

Your title is NOT the title of the article, period.

I had heard that the event happened 80 secs into flight at somewhere between mach 2 and 4.

That would be the shuttle velocity, not the relative velocity of the collision.

NASA engineers have known for at least five years that insulating foam could peel off the space shuttle's external fuel tanks and damage the vital heat-protecting tiles that the space agency says were the likely ``root cause'' of Saturday's shuttle disaster.

This was fro your story!

Again why do you continue to post disinformation? Will you answer that? If not why? What is your agenda?
