In a revealing essay ("The Left Has Lost Its Way and Lost Its Voice") in Britain's Times last fall, Camille Paglia uncorked this insightful quote: "One problem is that too many leftist periodicals are run by callow cliques whose vaunted populism is a mask for snobbery."
No kidding! But in this scribe's opinion, Ms. Paglia's apt critique would apply to almost all of the American left these days...........

Well said.... excellent piece! Too bad their followers don't use the brains they were born with and actually rationalize a bit...
Thanks!

"One problem is that too many leftist periodicals are run by callow cliques whose vaunted populism is a mask for snobbery." The leftist "intellectual" elite is reminiscent of the courtiers of Louis XIV.
They live in an artificial world with artificial rules. (eg, political correctness). As long as they obey the artificial rules, they are considered superior people.
In that system, they don't have inherent worth, but are given a particular rank, according to their usefulness to the folks at the top. Their very existence, their ability to earn a living, is dependent on pleasing the ruling elite. They must constantly praise the rulers (of the Democratic party) and close ranks around the rulers should any scandal occur.

Left-LIberalism in the last forty years has not been content to just unleash the plagues of the drug culture, loose (and disease-ridden) sex, lowered educational standards, soft treatment of criminals, new standards of racial discrimination, hatred of the dominant ethnic group (white Europeans, especially males), Marxist economics, environmental nonsense, and the general assault on Judeo-Christian morality. Maybe the worst thing it's done is foster a sense of anti-Americanism and defeatism. If you don't believe in your own country after our titanic battles that whipped Nazism and communism which benefitted the whole world and not just ourselves, then you are one lost and sorry soul.

Great statment -- I add the acceptance of AIDS as victimless social ill brought on by conservative bigotry.
