Not only are the people from Kalifornia migrating to my state - so is this "tax" everything mentality. Our good Gov wants to triple the tax on smokes, raise the car tax, etc, etc.

I'll have to put a trace on his phone calls.

I say let him sign it. It will give us one more reason to have people sign the recall petition... and it's coming.

They are currently broadcasting phone numbers you can use to ask the Governor to veto the car tax. These are numbers that are being answered by people, not machines, for the time being.

(916)445-0131

(916)445-4341

Use 'em.

If you read this thread after the phones shut down you can use these numbers to ask Davis to veto the car tax:

We really should launch a recall drive against the Governor and a referendum on the car tax the moment he signs this. It would concentrate liberal minds beautifully. No way they're going to win this one and they'll never see a dime of it.

I think this will happen, since even his own side is now fed up with him (they're really p.o.ed that he called for such 'drastic' spending cuts). Unfortunately, state law says a recall can't happen until 6 months after the election. You might be interested in this thread on the topic.

McClintock is VERY appreciative of any supportive letters he gets - in fact, he is a leader in the anti-Grayout Davis movement. Write him, and he'll write you back, but he'll also tell you to WRITE AND CALL THE DEMS!! The Pubbies are on board to not raise taxes, but you've got to let the Dems in California know how you feel. I did a huge letter-writing campaign to all of the Senate and Legislature to tell them where to stick the taxes and fees, and got 10 replies - all from Pubbies only. WRITE AND CALL NOW!!

It's too late to write to the legislators on the car tax, since it's out of their hands. (It wouldn't hurt to write them regarding other taxes, however). For the car tax, I suggest writing to Davis. Since time is of the essence, here's his fax number:

I should mention that a fax is much more effective than email. I think emails just get thrown into the trash can because they're too easy to send. A written letter, even if faxed, gets a lot more attention since it's more trouble for the sender.

I'll join in the protest but I am also going to leave the state. With 'Red' Davis as Guvner this state is going down. I am a lifelong Californian and conservative, soon to only be a life long conservative.

I signed up for the petition. McClintok has been on the George Putnam radio show. There is also a recall of the Dimwit Davis floating. Putman, a registered Democrat, said he would back McClintok for governor if the recall is successful. Interestingly enough Dunn, the only Democrat voting against, is in central Orange County

This may be good news for me. I sell real estate in Utah, and every time California has a major problem the Californians flock this way. My regrets to fellow freepers and other conservatives in Ca. who didn't vote for Davis.
