"Born to a Jewish family" is awfuly inaccurate unless he meant the grandfather was born to a Jewish family. John Kerry certainly was not. He was born to a Roman Catholic family.

I'm not doubting this is true, but IF it is I think the correct take is he covered it up (the Jewish background, name, and suicide) until it became more politically useful. They say he was always quick to correct anyone who assumed he was Irish. I wonder if that is true. I wholeheartedly disbelieve that he didn't know his own family background.
