"There's too much anthropological evidence that evolution did happen to deny it."
I disagree. Also there have been interesting developments in molecular & microbio that show the evolution THEORY to have the integrity of a piece of swiss cheese. There is a professor at Lehigh who wrote an interesting book on this but I can't recall his name.

"The story of Adam and Eve is totally symbolic."
You are entitled to your opinion on this but many, including Catholics, do not agree.

Excellent article. Thanks for posting. It's so nice to know that there are a few Catholic schools out there that actually uphold Catholic moral priciples. My alma mater is busy trying to figure out whether they should fund homosexual clubs. Truly depressing.

If your idea/issue is so important, start your own thread. Your hijacking this one only makes me doubt your motives.

Well, relativity is a theory too. I know it's hotly debated, and in my lifetime there will not be a firm answer. Probably never. But, the first chapter of Genesis...uh, I have my doubts.

How did this brief paragraph turn into yet another creation vs. evolution "debate"? The obsession with attacking evolution is getting bizarre.

The sexual act - with its promise of new human life - is the most Godly act we are called upon ever to commit. Most treat that incredible divine privilege like an infinitely selfish game - and the life it brings forth like garbage. I was there once upon a time in my early twenties, a product of my environment and poor teaching as much as selfishness and a lax moral attitude. It's hard to imagine now.

Darwin on Trial by Philip Johnson is another good read.

Hey there, aquinasfan... I was not there, but I did not fully understand or appreciate God's plan for sexual morality. My wife and I hope to help our children understand such - but the whole of society is arrayed against that - as well as significant forces with the Church. But I do see a counterrevolution beginning - with regard to respecting true Catholic sexual morality. It's heartening to see, where it exists. And by the way, you have a great Freepname. Aquinas was a great, great man and a superb thinker.

The Catholic Church has no official teaching on evolution although certain theories of evolution are considered incorrect by the Church. Catholics must believe that (1) God created creation and Man,(2)that man is in an intimate and unique way (unlike animals) created in the image and likeness of God, and (3) that all creation still relies on God for its existence.
That being said, we don't talk that much about evolution at Ave Maria School of law.

Thanks Aquinas fan...Michael Behe is the Lehigh guy indeed. And the links are a nice surprise!

Excellent! A lady from my parish is nice enough to video tape EWTN's programs for me since DIRECTV doesn't see fit to include EWTN.I saw on one tape a group of law students.I don't recall but I guess it was from Ave Maria. I got a big kick, like I usually do of Fr Fessio. He said that they are building not just a college in Florida but an entire town. He also said, and I hope I get this right, that they contacted the Naval Observatory for the directions(?)of where the town will be to the directions of our blessed mother's house in Nazareth-2,000 years ago???!! Have you heard this and I hope you can explain it better than I can.Whenever I think of what father said,I'm flabbergasted!
