Oh, they are even searching where debris MIGHT be, IF there was debris as reported by so many people.

He doesn't seem to believe there was debris like some people in CA have been reporting either! He is doing a great job of reporting facts if some folks on here will open up their minds.

Interesting idea, Dog. I haven't heard that yet. It was suborbital at the time, but it doesn't mean that there wasn't something up there to hit.

2.67 pounds.......is the striking energy.

I asked that question Saturday at CPAC. Another FReeper said that the shuttle seemed to be below that level. IIRC, 120 miles high is orbit level. They were at ~40 miles up at breakup.

The question he was answering was what could NASA do, if the decision was to fly in, without
putting much pressure on one of the two wings. He said that that flight path would
certainly crash the vehicle, so the occupants would have to bail out to have any chance.

disipated its energy into a cloud of dust.....they are trying to find out what that dissipation of energy might have done to the tile.

A guy broke into our Biz about 2 months ago. Too Bad for him it is a Local,State Police Hangout ......LOL!!!!!
So I get to help put him away for 10 years. It is his 13th arrest for B&E/ Burglery. I got three hours sleep last night and I would not have been in the best mood to testify today.

Me too! I hope some of the experts have heard this press conference because he seems to be debunking the damaged tile theory being bandied about by the press and the CA people seeing debris falling off. Also debunked the rise in temperature on the left wheel well.

It was low because it was so heavy.

But was the temp reading an indication of something to come? That is the question in my mind at this point.
To: Cboldt
Thank you.

Post a transcript. I've been looking for one, and I am sure that comments based on the transcript would be considerably more valuable than the repetitive questions and uninformed speculation that has been rampant on this subject.

Frank, does it sound to you like it does to me -- that even before the return flight that they had done a LOT of work figuring on this?

I would love to slap all women reporters recently and especially blonde ones!
The reporters are idiots if you ask me. A reporter just figured out the debris fall off on take-off and the temperature in the wheel well did not cause the crash.
Don't know where the thermal event is coming from -- wonder if it is computer software giving false readings!
