The left wing of the shuttle picture taken from the window of the shuttle.
Main Issue in the Article
Did Nasa know about this and therefore kept their silence, not telling the astronauts?
-The photo was revealed on Channel 1 of Israel. This pic was taken during an interview the Channel had with the Israeli astronaut.

Silly stuff here, eh?
I think we might as well discuss the mystery of why the copyright at the bottom of this page has not been extended to 2003. It's just as facinating as this thread. Why hasn't "Robinson-DeFehr Consulting, LLC" changed the copyright to extend to 2003? And what might that have to do with the the shuttle? Or maybe why Joe Biden has doll hair? Something is being hidden here. Sneaky stuff with decoder rings and funny handshakes....

"I guess that, if pushed, the tabloid would claim it was taken from the SpaceHab module in the back of the cargo bay. Does the SpaceHab module even have a window???" And the tabloid can then tell us where the "tailpipe" in the wing is located.
It doesn't matter. There are people who will always believe it's a conspiracy. Just like there are people who think that there was no airplane that hit the Pentagon.

Dock or not, they could have found some way to get into the ISS Heck yeah, preach on brother!
Even if they didn't have the fuel remaining to make the higher orbit, they could have just gotten out and paddled.
I'm certain that there are two, maybe three dozen extra one size fits all EVA suits lying around on the shuttle, or the ISS. Probably a couple stuffed behind the radiator. Even if there weren't suits, they could just take a couple of really deep breaths and hurry over to the ISS...
Although I have to say, the conspiracy theories here are starting to be on par wih those expressed over at DU.

In the time from initial discovery to however many days extra they'd have had to stay up, they could have gotten another shuttle up and either taken them, brought a fix, or fuel for a boost to the ISS.
Even if that is wrong, it was not a "no win situation", they don't exist until its over...

"That looks like a Hebrew version of the National Enquirer. "
That newspaper is the second largest newspaper in Israel. It is a trusted source of news from Israel. I have translated from it many articles concerning terrorism in Israel. I disagree fully with that remark.

4. Correction: The pic is a still photo from the press conference Israel had where the Prime Minister Sharon had a talk with the Israeli astronaut. This photo was revealed on Israel Television the other day.
Who took the picture? Where was it taken from? By whom?

The loss was both of the US and Israel. I am simply posting this to show what the current feeling of why it happened. This is simply one article. In no way am I posting this to diminish the accomplishments. I just want us to learn from our mistakes and to figure out what happened.

Additionally - in order for that photo to have been the LEFT wing - the photo would have been of the REAR edge of the wing - the front edge is ROUNDED not STRAIGHT EDGED.
The only place that photo could have been taken from would be in the vicinity of the engines at the TAIL.
There is no way this photo could have been of Colombia's left wing after the orbit of STS-107.
Phoney, and not even a nice try.

There is no way for the shuttles to dock together. Columbia carries no docking collar. Columbia was at the end of it's resources...maybe two more days max if bad weather had come up. It takes that long to get another shuttle to the launch pad on the creeper. And As I said earlier, the tiles can ONLY be replaced on the ground. each tile is custom made to fint one particular spot on the aircraft.

Maariv Newspaper is a main newspaper of Israel. It is no tabloid. It is even linked to by the Israel Defense Forces on their site. It is like the New York Times of Israel. I am not joking. I have lived there and know...

Okay, and in fairness you are obviously more familiar with it than I am, So I will have to take your word for it.
But still, I am not ready to write NASA off this easily. I do not believe, based on what I have see here that NASA knowingly sent everyone to their doom as some kind of PR strategy.. No way, imho.
It's just unbelieveable to me.
Also, does the paper mention where the picture came from? Are they specific about this at all?

And Second of all, this picture was not taken by the Newspaper itself. It was taken from video footage during the talk between the Astronaut and the Israeli PM. They simply got a still photo of it.

I know what you're trying to say. But these days I wouldn't insult a newspaper by comparing it to that fishwrap known as the NY Times. LOL!

YES. I have stated that. It is a still photo from the video taken during a talk between Ramon and the Israeli PM at a press conference. It says so in the article. The article talks about this revelation as put forward on Channel 1 in Israel.

Is this the current feeling of most people in Israel? I like to give the Israelis more credit than that. We all want to learn from the mistakes. Because I am sure that mistakes were made. It is too early to tell what those mistakes are.
It is irresponsible journalism to inflame something that isn't there by publishing a photo that with a tiny bit of research, they would know that it does not depict the space shuttle.
We are the Israelis friends. The only purpose this serves would be the purpose of the enemies of the US and Israel.
