But America's enemies would do well to understand that bruised hearts are not the same as faint hearts.

They'll learn that soon enough..........

"it is taken as read that America is soft - a cry-baby braggart, whose pampered citizens run for home at the first sign of real danger."

Another Clinton legacy.....

America has had more than its fair share of bad days...

This sentence could have ended right here. America has had more than its share of bad days because of its great tradition of courage and pioneering spirit. No other nation on earth puts as much on the line as the U.S. does. As a Canadian, I can only thank God that this great nation to the south is what it is. God bless America.

Anyone who thinks Americans are soft or cowardly should read some military history.

Put some Americans on one side and some Arabs on the other, and let's see who runs first. I have been thinking a lot about John Keegan's "History of Warfare" recently. He really nails it.

Thanks for posting this. At these times of crisis and mourning, there is nothing that cheers me more than to read the words of our British brethren, and the faith that they have in us.

But unless something very strange caused the disaster - sabotage, gross negligence or a terrorist bomb - it will not change the way that America thinks about itself.

Of course it won't! Does anyone think otherwise? Why the the author even bring this up? Even IF "something very strange" caused this disaster, why would this author think that it would change the way Americans think about themselves? Most of us accept bad news and then get on with taking care of the business at hand. Putting a dent in our self confidence - or, as Euros would have it, arrogance - would take a helluva lot more than what we've been through over the past year and a half. A helluva lot more.

"But America's enemies would do well to understand that bruised hearts are not the same as faint hearts. Americans had a bad day on Saturday. But they have not given up on the future. They'll go fix this."

Dear SoDamn Insane,

It would behoove you to read the above sentence over and over again. You continually underestimate the unshakeable American spirit. We may not always agree, but when it comes right down to it, we will always stand UNITED and strong. Our faith in the abilities of our military is unshakeable. We do not run away from people the likes of you. You keep your people "patriotic" by stepping on them and getting rid of them. We stay patriotic because we have the freedom to speak out. We do not have to rid ourselves of those who do not agree with us; they are free to speak their mind and in doing so have made this country what it is today.

We will not be bullied.
We will not be stepped on.
We will not be intimidated.
We will not cower in fear of our enemies, domestic or abroad.

We will fight as ONE.

It would have done you well to have read this article before putting your big fat foot in your mouth on Saturday when claiming that the Space Shuttle Columbia's tragic ending was "God's retribution" and that "we are happy it broke up". Even Arafat was smarter than that--if not to be politically correct more than anything else, he offered his condolonces.

So don't be surprised to find that if we do go to war with you that you won't find us dancing in the streets. No, we will be busy hanging our flags and praying for the safety of our military personnel.

The eagle soared and you spit in his eye....how long until it swoops down and unlocks the doors of freedom to your people?

A Proud and Patriotic American Citizen
