In a previous life I did some work with these folks...

Genetic banking, at it's finest...

Key factors that will drive demand for FGT services include:

Consumer requirements for privacy, security and control over personal genetic information

The desire to understand the molecular basis of common diseases and variations of drug response and research to understand gene function

A growing need for genetic education and counseling services        The need for secure, cost effective and integrated IT infrastructures and solutions

So, are you fer it, or agin' it?

In a previous life, I used to sell all the neat little thingys that the reaserchers used to "discover" all these genome-type stuff.

I think these discoveries are a gift from above. The veritable "Cat's Ass". So much good can be done.

But, alas, it will be abused. It already is being abused, and the abuse is at the hands of the government. The "good guys".

The same "good guys" who have been granted the almost diety-like powers of deciding what types of natural plants, herbs, and other chemicals us subjects can put inside our bodies. You cheer these people on; I've seen you over there at the WOsD threads.

So, do you honestly think that a "government" that has been granted the ability to "regulate" what you can ingest (for good or bad) doesn't also have the right coerce its' citizens to take a certain drug or submit a DNA sample? It's for the children, you know.

The door has been opened, and a big wedge in the shape of police, government, and a dozen other concerns that make money and are empowered by the loss of your 4th Amendment rights, are keeping the door from closing again. You can't even get a decent job without submitting to a piss-test, for God's sake.

There aint no free lunch, and you always get what you deserve. Maybe a light has turned on somewhere....

Oh, and my thoughts exactley re: Warren Zevon
