My suggestion is that he gets it out in the open now and deal with it, because its all over net the tv and papers.

Bush wanted money for nasa when he ran for president.
He has NOT had a majority in both houses of congress til three weeks ago.
His administration was touting a potential mission to mars and nuclear rockets, a week and a half ago to get more money for nasa...

How much sooner could we get funding through the congress?
For that matter, we HAD to fly the shuttle mission as this was the #5 satellite in the critical military high tech satellite constellation we needed for Iraq. this was a MUST DO mission... or so I HEARD.
We had to fly it. We don't have the backing of congress... and as a result SEVEN died. Perhaps that satellite was worth thousands of lives. Perhaps they took pictures while they were up there.
In any case YOU cannot blame bush.
we might find out that the tiles were intentionally contaminated by espionage at the last inspections...
We KNOW it was NOT shot down... but you can bet if the commies have penetrated los alamos... they could have gotten a janitor into JSC or Edwards with a can of spray contaminant, disguised as windex...
I don' think THAT kind of sabotage can be ruled out yet.
And if it WAS discovered to be that kind of sabotage, we would never admit it... but the chinese would lose another satellite or two of their own... probably in proximity to beijing.
Who knows? I know it was not bush's fault and that he has wanted more money for space exploration and perhaps militarization since before the election of 2000... I believe the article written about the concept was by a guy named Joel Achenbach.
