These NASA people are still in shock....I do not find their emotional state inappropriate but rather an affirmation of the American Spirit....The life os each astronaut is precious....Considering their grief....I think that they are doing a remarkable job of reporting what they know at present.....May God Help & Comfort Them and the Families!

You nailed it. America is America because we DO care. We care about an astronaut that we've never even heard about until today. We care about the the oppressed and tortured in Iraq and the starving in Africa.

Some may say that we don't but America is the most compassionate, giving country in the world and we mourn, especially if we lose one of our own.

I think Conservababe is coming from an occupation that sees death often and has learned to cope by not letting herself feel and I understand but there is nothing wrong with a few tears on TV or in private.
