Unless Columbia tried a barrel roll, I think that Mission Control would have mentioned something about a course/attitude correction. It doesn't appear that was the case.

Several times (including a couple of minutes ago on Fox) I've seen one video that shows a closeup of the shuttle still in one piece...it appears to be sideways to the direction of travel. Could someone with Tivo find that and post a pic? It's only a couple of seconds long.

But ... in one of the close-up films the shuttle appears to be going sideways instead of nose up at a " \ " slanted angle to keep the shuttle from burning up.
