On this topic, Lindsey's assertions are essentially correct, but his style is little more than a high school senior's, who has skimmed through a number of books to research an important English paper. The article is typical of Lindsey: his basic claims are posited, rather than investigated.
He demonstrates no deep historical knowledge about that in which he claims expertise, rather, he substitutes enthusiasm and pithy sound bites for analysis. As such, he does not deserve the praise he enjoys as a fountainhead of knowledge. He is little more than a popularizer and propagandist of American Evangelical Christian Zionism.
Here Lindsey demonstrates his real historical ignorance, particularly of Turkey. Imams and Clerics in Turkey are under constant government surveillance, and oft times find themselves in prison for attempting to gain political influence.
Unfortunately, Lindsey's mindset, and the ignorance it represents, is very influential for Americans who are concerned with Islamist terrorists and the Mid East in general.
Lots more than your leftist history prof!
You seem to have this "thing" for Muslims for example I have seen your fascination with Muslim Turkish ideology all over this website.
BOTTOM LINE: Hal Lindsay is heads and shoulders more aware and cognizant of Muslim ideology and what it has done to Christians since it reared its ugly head than all your history profs put together!
All you have to do is read the first hand accounts of Christian victims at the bloddy hands of Muslims...
