THE ONE-WORLDERS must have been close to gagging when President of the United States George W. Bush told his countrymen and the world on Tuesday night that he will defend America, first and foremost, regardless of what others might think or do.
President Bush delivers his State of the Union address Tuesday night. TEXT OF SPEECH (AP)It should go without saying but instead it is remarkable that the President had to make clear that what we do about Saddam Husseins Iraq will be, ultimately, an American decision.
All free nations have a stake in preventing sudden and catastrophic attack, the President said. We are asking them to join us, and many are doing so. Yet the course of this nation does not depend on the decision of others.
Then, in what may become the signature statement of his Presidency, he vowed, Whatever action is required, whenever action is necessary, I will defend the freedom and security of the American people.
Those are bold words from an American leader willing to lead America. It is clear that this man understands the role of the President in perilous times and isnt afraid to risk political capital for the greater good. Thank God for that.
Whatever action is required, whenever action is necessary, I will defend the freedom and security of the American people.
Now Clinton could SAY this, it's just that no one would believe he would follow through. You can bank on Bush meaning what he says.
Yet the course of this nation does not depend on the decision of others.
No way could Clinton bring himself to utter these words, as the America that would exert its power "unilaterally" is the America loathed by the left.
