"This would be conceding Victory to the Ts. That's Their Thing. "

I don't think so. It's just prudent to consider it and if investigation shows that there is evidence to support the T hypothesis then quickly move to protect other pharmaceutical plants. Especially when we are so close to entering a war that may have a chemical and biological aspect.

something chemically related (or any other WMD for that matter) - wouldn't that prevent some of the EMS personnel from either going in or (if they were already there) coming back out?

This can be considered a fire in a chemical plant, which is definitely a HAZMAT incident and requires that training and experience. Most firefighters and EMTs have basic training in dealing with (operating in, rescuing victims from, etc.) HAZMATs, but, it takes more time and equipment to do that than to deal with, say, an ordinary structure fire. The only real difference between this and a, say, chemical weapons attack is the different materials in the smoke.

If the plant had been managed properly, then there would have been coordination between its Chemical Hygiene Officer and the local FD so that the fire service would know long before responding to any incident there what it's getting into.

This plant makes no pharmaceuticals -- only syringe plungers, IV set components, and other delivery devices.

what exactly did 309 say? by the way the reason there are not many cars is the fact that many people in this area including my plant are dropped off at work. this should not be an indication that many have left. It would likely be impossible to leave right now.

Good. I just wanted to set the "biogenics/vaccines" to rest.

Hope so. A knowledgable-sounding guy just interviewed on WRAL said this plant makes things for the company's other plants -- which I guess could be the components you mention ... BULLETIN: Eight now declared dead, per AP.

That is a list of what they say they make.

A previous comment provided a link to their own web site, which claims that they produce "vaccines."

I doubt that the companies involved in the massive task of producing 300 million small-pox vaccine doses the Govt. says it needs are exactly advertising who they are.

On the other hand, it would be well-known to the staff.
Maybe to somebody crazy. And maybe to a crazy somebody named Mohammed Rouff Al-Doogie or what-not.

Just speculation.

They are just now evacuating homes or they HAVE BEEN evacuted? Seems a little late into the incident to be deciding to do that now.

BULLETIN: Eight now declared dead, per AP.

That's so strange. Our local stations are not mentioning fatalities. Only those injured and where they are.

Don't worry Admin Moderator, Jomini is our favorite, fun loving, disinformation agent. Generally his screeds are insightful as well as "incite"-ful.

If only Mr. D had won the election in the 10th District in North Carolina, this tragedy would never had happened!

OMG this is horrible I've been good and doing work all day so not had the TV, radio or FR on most of the day and look what I missed. That'll teach me to try and earn some $$.

Just heard on the news that 8 people are so far confirmed dead. May God bless those that are injured and be with their families.
