Harare - Two American journalists and a Zimbabwean photographer were freed on Wednesday after being arrested by Zimbabwean authorities and held for seven hours on Tuesday in the western city of Bulawayo.
The journalists were released late on Tuesday night following an appeal from United States diplomats here, said their lawyers.
Jason Beaubien, the Africa correspondent for National Public Radio, Dina Kraft, a reporter for the Associated Press news agency based in Johannesburg, and local freelance photographer Tsvangirai Mukwazhi were accused of "unauthorised entry" into a state grain depot in Bulawayo and of taking photographs of a "restricted security area," said lawyer, Nkoluleku Fuzwayo.
