[history]
Many people have never met Laci Peterson, but feel as if they have. Most feel she is their neighbor, their friend. Her disappearance has brought the idea of mortality to the forefront for many people who believe that youth and beauty are somehow immune to the tragedies of life.

I have finally managed to find a post about the Peterson situation early on and before the post has run its course with no more posts being added.
First things first.
Scott Peterson had an affair while married. He is a scumbag. Catfish won't even nibble on him because he is UNDER the things that catfish eat. OK?
With that said......
I am going to tell the Modesto City Council how they can save MILLIONS of dollars every year. I am going to recommened that they fire the entire police department, the DA and DA's office personnel, all judges, they can throw away the pesky prospective jurors list and the state of California can fire all of the executioners at all of the state prisons.
Wouldn't that save the city of Modesto MILLIONS of dollars annually?
I am going to make these recommendations to the city of Modesto because, you see, all of the investigators, police personnel, DAs, ( very few, if any, defense lawyers, )judges, juries and executioners are all right here on FRee Republic.
Why should the city of Modesto have to pay out huge sums of money to all of these people when all they have to do is to get people from FRee Republic to do these jobs for them free of charge?
Anyone....ANYONE in this great country is presumed innocent until he/she is proven guilty......oh, EXCEPT on FRee Republic.
I have done my best to read all articles and posts about Laci Peterson because, as everyone else here, she has captured my heart. I may have missed some posts.
If the decision as to what to do with Scott Peterson were left up to some on FRee Republic he would be dead already and, no doubt, some of them would have volunteered to be the hangman, firing squad members, guillotine operators, assasins and torturers to ensure his death.
Surely, there simply cannot be such pent up hatred and sadism here on FRee Republic. I refuse to believe it.
Is Scott Peterson guilty of murder? Probably so. BUT, I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt until such time as he admits a wrongdoing so horrific that I just cannot imagine it......the killing of his own wife who is carrying his child, or until his successful prosecution.
Note to all of the FR investigators, DAs, judges, jurors and executioners on FR:
Flame Away. I am trying to make you THINK before engaging the keyboard and typing some of the most vile and disgusting things I have ever read on FR.
Now, with all of that said........I shall light a candle and pray for Laci's safe return as requested. I have been praying for her safe return everyday since Christmas Eve. The only addition will be the candle.

You have friends here. I wrote early and often that he was well within his rights to hire a lawyer, and was happy not to get flamed. There are a good number of Innocent Until Proven Guilty folk here, not as many as one would hope, given the nature of the website, but you're not a lone voice in the woods.
I wonder what the police aren't telling us. Probably plenty. I remember the righteous outrage here after the David Westerfield trial a few months ago when we found out well after the trial was over that he was negotiating with the police -- before the trial had begun -- about what kind of reduced sentence he'd get for telling where the body was. I'd bet that there will be some similar pie in the face for all of us in this case before it's all over.

You are correct. I was so wrapped up in Laci's situation that I had completely forgotten about the Westerfield case. I should have reminded everyone about the indignant outrage that case generated on FR. Indignant outrage that was generated by their own comments in the first place.

I can only vouch for myself obviously, but I would bet money that there are many others who, like myself BELIEVE enough in the justice system to not want the executioners' job.
SO put that in your pipe and smoke it.

You have taken it personally without comprehending my post. I said that SOME would volunteer, not ALL.

You are correct, you said some.
I have to tell you that it was also said on the westerfield threads...and the finger was pointed at all of us one time or another..so it's not necessarily that I took it personally, it's the way you addressed it to some. Since Some wasn't defined..I felt that someone should speak out about the majority at least..and I tried to do so with little flame.
I've tried to check in the threads on the peterson case as regular as I can, and I've not read posts that would indicated to me that people are ready to kill him.

You have obviously missed some posts, Kim. BTW, I have read some of your comments on Laci's threads. Very insightful.

Man, what a boilerplate weeper in a provincial catfish wrap. What, did they just replace Chandra Levy's name in it to make it fit the current melodrama?
The author needs to go back to school, maybe with that commentator who wants to "make the rest of us think" by quoting tired old legal cliches he must have heard on some idiot box soap opera. "innocent until proven guilty"? "benefit of the doubt"? Double yawn! Hey, Attila the Hun was never convicted in an American court of law. Innocent! Nero? Innocent! How many times do we have to explain to these smart alecks that the court of public opinion has slightly different rules that the f****d up American justice system! Otherwise let's petition the pope to canonize that nazi monster of the previous century, whatisname. He too was innocent! Sheesh!
(Won't mention the last guy's name so as not to invoke Goodwin's Law!)

I appreciate you not including me in the group you refer to.
Maybe this happened earlier before I started posting... I understand your outrage..if indeed there were some who really acted like they wanted to. That would be going too far. I've just not seen it yet.
Thanks for your nice words. :) I appreciate your comments. I actually remember the same kind of thoughts against people who thought westerfield was guilty. But I don't wanna go there. heh heh

If you could just provide us with another suspect or two, we would have something to work with.
These threads are not a court of law, we do have our own opinions. That is why they call this a discussion group.
It is hilarious to think that this discussion, no matter how guilty any of us think he is, will lead to an arrest.
If the MPD doesn't have the evidence, he walks...and YOU should know that.
Laci Peterson's OWN parents and family don't trust or believe him...Do you think WE influenced that?

Read my message again, please. I clearly stated my opinion of SP in that message.
The main thrust of that message was to point out that some of the people here on FR could be so full of hatred not only toward SP, ( and, for example, want to hang him by the genitals, ) but also toward fellow FReepers who would dare and have the audacity to disagree with them.
Also, I assume that you are responding to a later post whereby I referenced a previous post I had linked to Palladin and Texas_Mom.
Even though I am a fellow Texan I have to defend and agree with Texas_Mom that Palladins's comments about her loving Westerfield were totally uncalled for.
That's what I mean about hatred being shown toward fellow members when one happens to disagree with the comments of another. ( In other words, you disagree with me so I'll show you. I'm going to trash you or make a sarcastic remark to or about you. )
What do outsiders think when they come to FR and see the latent hatred and violent tendencies of the members? Do we want to look like DU?
BTW, DNA and related evidence was supposed to be available this past Friday. If there was anything implicating SP he would be in the slammer already.
Also, on the page where we are allowed to post there is a very easy to read message which states, ( and just under the text box where posts are typed, ) as follows:
Please: NO profanity, NO personal attacks, NO racism or violence in posts.
I guess some of us cannot even read very well, huh?

"This is my opinion and by damn you better not disagree with me. "
