FBI officials acknowledged that the initiative could be politically dicey. But they said the move is justified given continuing concerns about undetected sleeper cells and troublesome evidence that some mosques may be serving as cover for terrorist activity. This is not politically correct, no question about it, said one top FBI official. But it would be stupid not to look at this, given the number of criminal mosques that may be out there. Could not have said it better myself!

This has not been done?! My Gawd - are we that cowed and stupid to think ignoring this demographic is OK? PC Crap must Die!
To: enraged
It has been stupid not to look at this since 9/12/2001. It would be even stupider to continue to not look at it. I wonder whether this just finally floated to the top, or whether the recent revelations of Ricin in the London mosques may have stimulated this long overdue action.

We're 1.5 years out, and it's clear that the ones who must die are us. Middle-easterners including known terror risks still get the green light to enter our nation. Our borders are wide open and Mosques are untouchable until now.
I'd go one step further. I'd monitor every sermon given from the pulpits of these mosques.
We know of the problem clerik in New York involved with the first WTC bombing. Despite this, it seems to never have occurred to anyone that other mosquest might be furtile ground for the same problem.
We sure have some bright people in leadership positions within our government. {NOT!}

Count them? That's the goal? Wow, tough job for the FBI. Are they sure they can handle it?
Sheesh! . . . B******s should've been interned 9/11/01.

I would like to think that we have been doing this all along, but due to the pantywaists just waiting to piss and moan, it has been very hush-hush. I think you are correct that the London Mosque turning out to be everything they feared and possibly worse has brought this to the surface, maybe to warm up the peacenics to the idea.

I'm sure the Feds already have this info. It's not the field agents who are not doing the job. It's Washington.
To: widowithfoursons
I read it to mean that they were going to activly search out new covert Mosques. Sure we know where the big ones are but the little festering ones might be harder to detect without a little inside info.
I did like the "held accountable" part tho'

The thing that really pisses me off is that the U.S HQ for radical Islamic fundamentalism is in plain sight right off the Garden State Parkway by exit 145 in East Orange. It's literally right in the face of hundreds of thousands of commuters every day. What have the feds done about it? Nothing.

There were also NBC suits found. Not generally a part of religious ceremonies, at least not where I come from.

I'll ping Coleus who has a NJ ping list. There were a few threads about this rats nest.
Coleus, do you have any info on the muslim center off exit 145 on the GSP? If not, would you mind pinging the NJ list to see if they do. I would greatly appreciate it. I am swamped at work and can't run a search right now. Thanks.

"Our borders are wide open and Mosques are untouchable until now. "And we are denied the immunization against smallpox, bureaucrats dither over invading the enemy, politicians oppose and delay the fixes, other countries play power politics......it all makes me feel more and more vulnerable. Should the attack come here I will not be nice to those who let it happen by playing games.

Thanks for the ping. That this has not been done yet is no surprise. People think that the FBI just sits down in the AM and decides to go look at this or that. That they are doing wiretaps all day long or pulling stuff off the Internet when they feel like it. It does not happen that way. In fact, there are so many layers and things they have to do just to do a wire tap, for example, that it's a long and expensive process.
Frankly, I'm somewhat surprised that this happened. The movement of people around that were attached to the last administration must be nearing completion.
