As long as he knows how to say "go fornicate with a diseased camel" in arabic it should be a good choice.

"Surrender or we are dropping a daisy cutter on your grid coordinates in two minutes" might be a good arabic phrase as well.

I remember having lunch with then Major Abizaid and we were asking him about Grenada. I asked him several questions about the operation. After the Air Force aborted the first jump because of AAA, 'legend' has it that Abizaid unhooked his static line, went into the cockpit and ordered the pilots to return at gunpoint. Abizaid smiled and said that the Air Commander aborted the jump so that Spectre could silence the AAA. Another statement made by Abizaid that I remember is that as he was on the drop zone, under fire, for a little while, he just watched .... with pride .... because he knew the Rangers had got it right as he watched his Rangers form up into fireteams under contact and move to the sound of contact.

Abizaid also led the invasion of Northern Iraq during Operation Provide Comfort.

Abizaid is a stud, and a GREAT choice!

He and I overlapped for about a year in 1st Ranger Bn in the early 80s. He started off in the 3 shop, and then I think he took over C Company from Dave Grange (memory is pretty hazy). He was definitely squared away.

Don't know him; but I agree that Rummie is working hard at finding people he can work with. He has plenty of enemies from the old Clinton crop of General Officers. Those guys are amazingly bold at trying to circumvent his policies behind the scenes.
