Know what? I don't think I can even stand to read this without upchucking.

I earned about $500.00 last year. TOTAL. I don't have to pay zip and this ticks me off...what the hell are these people smoking??

You do know we are outnumbered don't you? I've been screeching this for so many years...at least 25....with the State, Federal, city, public utility(sewer systems, etc), "education "system", people on welfare, illegal immigrants, IDIOTS, and the rest either working for OR getting from THE SYSTEM we pay taxes into, we're just plain out numbered.

I ran a Credit Bureau and similar finance businesses for 25 years . And you could watch it changing on paper. NONE of these people produce anything...NOTHING. Pure democracy in Oregon is 51 sharks deciding that they are going to have the other 49 fish for dinner. And I still have to pay $1500.00 per year in property taxes, $185.00 to water an acre once in a great while. This is just another little banana republic. God help us if all the other states are in the same boat....and in by my limited hypothesis, they are..or very near on their way.

I heard on the tube today...or rather, read a tickler...that the FED retirement system is in the red 2..thats two...billion dollars.

Get your checkbooks out people. Sorry, I can't help you, they already got all mine. LOL!!

We're outnumbered and what's worse is that they don't care.....51 per cent of Oregon doesn't care whether the rest of us live or die. Nice, huh? We don't seem to be having alot of luck appealing to their "concience" much less their logic.

And no, I don't have an anger problem..I have an idiot problem. Thank the good Lord there are still people like you, dixie, that I can carry on about it without getting that "glazed over" look or outright vile indignation.

I forgot. Did I mention Old people? We're living with a generation of very GREEDY old people. Thank goodness they're more moral than most of us as a group..but that's changing too, there are a lot more old greedy people, who could care less if the rest of us get a shot at what they got. And Oregon is FULL of them. Hell, you can't earn a living here, you might as well show up to retire...and if you "get" disability, which most got before they moved here, you pay NO property taxes.

VOTE BY MAIL...we're having a three week long election day. I've worked in the electoral system since this mess. All anyone has to do is mark another "oval"...the ballot is void, and these election people handle every ballott. They work 23 hour days. The are mostly retirees or disabled or someone who really needs the money. And if they saw someone doing something wrong, they won't say squat. I did and that's why I don't ever get called to work an election again. They didn't like me, after 20 years of working elections, I guess they got tired of my "questioning" them. It only took one "vote by mail" election to finish me off. It's beyond flawed. And if it's not already corrupt, it's begging to be and we've got 51% of the folks who like it that way! Yippee!

Oh yes, when we did elections the way we were supposed to, no one worked over 15 hours max....and guess what..we got it done..and usually right. It was supposed to be that way for a REASON.

Phoooey on all of 'em...I'm gonna go eat lemon pie!

Well, you see we are blessed with something called "Administrative rule" here in Oreg-idiot-land. That's where a bunch of these marooons got loose and wound up together in the state capital and set up a whole new system outside the state constitution...a new set of laws...ah, but they didn't call them laws...'cause they couldn't do that...they call them administrative rules and any little pencil necked bureaucrat can make a "rule", and oh, do they ever...some jerk NO ONE elected. And they raise fees..over and over. Couldn't dare call it a tax!

And nobody much seems to care or even notice. They'll pay $15,000 plus in "fees" and permits to build a house before they'd be bothered to vote or take a stand.

Nice rant, AuntB!

"And no, I don't have an anger problem..I have an idiot problem."

Believe me, I understand.

" Thank the good Lord there are still people like you, dixie, that I can carry on about it without getting that "glazed over" look or outright vile indignation."

I'm glad I could help! I don't know about you, but "glazed over" is not a good look for me.;o)

Thank you for your rant. It made my day. We moved here 1 1/2 yrs ago and are already sick of the idiotic liberal mindset. People here actually believe raising taxes for "essential govt. services" is a good thing.

Please don't tell me you voted for this deceitful piece of socialist tripe??????

The iron curtain fell 14 years ago. Most of the old Soviets have re-emerged in the Williamette Valley.

Coos Bay poll was running almost 80% AGAINST
Bigger than average voter average so far with early ballots.

I'm, hoping all thos voters that are turning out are "NO" votes but the unions are pushing hard to pass this "Temporary" tax, they're also not telling the people it's retro-active.

I heard Multnomah is almost 2/3rds in favor. That is what is making it so close. According to my calculations, the rest of the state has to vote around 75% against this for it to be killed.

We voted a BIG NO on this, and, so did all friends and relatives.

But the local newspaper eugene red guard has had major headlines each and every day touting this scam.

So, everyone that has their hand out will vote yes.

We will know next Wednesday morning.

After having lived almost all of my life in the South, we moved here 10 years ago. Believe it or not, even Portland was a nice city back then. I loved going downtown and did so quite often. After Vera was elected, the place went downhill very fast. It's really been a shame to watch.

If this measure passes, I hope that more people wake up and put a stop to this rapid decline I've seen since I moved here.

I'm not holding my breath, though...

"But the local newspaper eugene red guard has had major headlines each and every day touting this scam."

So has the Oregonian. Almost every day, half of the front section, including a huge chunck of the front page, has had these "grandma will be thrown out of her house" and "baby will starve" stories under the topic "this is what will happen if measure 28 doen't pass."

I have yet to see any balance at all on the pages of that rag.

I usually pay the newspaper bill. I told my husband that, if he wants to read the paper, he can pay the bill from now on. I haven't read the paper in almost 2 weeks, and I will not read it again.

how did we ever win WWI & WWII, with a lousy conscript military?

Those were popular wars. Making men enlist against their will has never been a good idea -- ie. draft riots during CW, Vietnam. WWI might have produced some domestic unrest if it had dragged on. WWII was so enthusiastically supported, I think the only reason for the draft was FDR and his overreaching Federal bureaucracy. There was no lack of volunteers. The draft helped turn a popular war (Vietnam) into an unpopular war. Finally, the military establishment itself has stated over and over that it doesn't want/need any draft. The draft constitutes involuntary servitude to the gov't and is an institution worthy of sheeple and trained monkeys.
Did I mention Iraq has a draft?
