Scott knows that where ever Laci is, she is not going to need a house, so to sell it makes good sense.

Sad but true.

Have you seen post 188 on this thread? Take a look.

I bothered by the changes in the time line. Did the media misreport the facts or did Scott actually "change" his story?
Why does AMC say the marina receipt doesn't have date/time stamps when the ones I've seen posted on threads here do?
Re: the Amber Frey press conference, that pretty much guarantees SP a change of venue, if/when he is charged and goes to trial.
I am jiggered by the dog story (found with leash attached, by neighbor and put in yard). It's the kind of detail that supports the attacked/kidnaped from park story, but doesn't strike me as the type of detail that a premeditating killer would think up, and certainly not one a panicked spur of the moment killer would come up with. Which leaves me with two choices, SP is an innocent but scummy philanderer (and probable lush) or is diabolically clever and imaginative.
Or maybe the dog just got away from him while loading the body and that inspired the park story.
I'm still on the fence with this one.

Kim, maybe the house was only in Scott's name? They did declare Bankruptcy? Was that before or after they bought the house? And if they did buy the house after that, maybe his parents co-signed the note, and it was only in his name? OR the house was always just in his name. Inquiring minds want to know!!

Why does AMC say the marina receipt doesn't have date/time stamps when the ones I've seen posted on the threads here do? Thank you for reminding me of a question that was also in my mind after I read the AMW website.
Much earlier, a poster, Cherry, suggested that if the receipts didn't record the time of entry or exit, but only the date, then Scott could have gone to the marina lot as early as 12:01 a.m. on Dec. 24, to get an alibi. If what AMW says is true, then that becomes a possibility again.
Maybe there is more than one parking lot for the marina? I trust what the posters here have put up--an actual picture of one of the lot's receipts--more than I trust the AMW website.

I've read in several places that the house was in both their names.

Yes, that was an eye-catcher! Another eye-catcher was that earlier one by GoodyD, who said Amber told Goody's sister-in-law that Scott called Amber up before Christmas, crying to her "my wife is dead."
Unfortunately, though, if you follow threads on this type of case long enough, you will see several people who pop up claiming to have a connection to a case, but whose information is not accurate. I am not saying those here who say they have had connections to this case, or to the Petersons, are not being truthful, I am just saying that when a poster doesn't follow up an eye-popping statement like that, I begin to wonder!

And just who are you referring too?

It doesn't make since that he would blow his cover of being not married before Christmas to Amber. Of course those who commit these kind of crimes make mistakes on what they tell other people. I saw that Erin Brokovich show the other night about a guy who was caught 13 years later because he told a relative the victim had been garrated(sp). Only law enforcement and the killer would know that.

UR welcome! I have been talking along with the others about how Scott might be legally able to sell his house, in the midst of these unusual circumstances. But I think the real point here is not whether he legally COULD sell it, but the possibility that he would even begin to look into selling it so soon after the very unsettling disappearance of his own wife and child.
I'm sorry, but even when my mother died naturally of old age, I actually even waited a good bit longer than one month before beginning to fix up her old house. I knew my mother would not mind at all if I'd gone in there the next day with a paintbrush. I was just thinking it just wasn't the proper way to act after such a great loss.
Scott doesn't seem to care.

No, it doesn't make sense. And it makes even less sense to imagine this:
1. Amber finds out he's married and asks him about it; he admits it but begs her to keep seeing him b/c "my wife and I will be splitting up."
2. Not long after that, he makes up a wild story of "my wife is dead!" (Could have done this even if Laci were still very much alive.)
The above is so ridiculous that it could be the plot of a very "noir" sitcom. I don't think any of it happened that way.

It strikes me as the perfect detail SP would invent to support his initial story to police that he last saw his wife at 9:30am on Christmas Eve as she was preparing to walk the dog.
The purpose was to convince the police that an abduction had taken police when in fact the actual crime scene had been in the house. Had the police discovered that the dog was in the house when Scott "returned" they would naturally assume that Laci had been abducted from within the house, at least initially.
Scott assumed incorrectly that the police would spend days combing the surrounding neighborhoos attempting to locate the site of the abduction (and not his house) when in fact they suspected his involvement from the start and were not about to overlook her home as a potential crime scene.

Well, it is the perfect detail, because it is very credible and humanizing.
But does SP have this kind of criminal IQ, to have thought that out, because inspired ideas like that don't occur in crimes of passion.
I find it fascinating to contemplate.

Add to my previous post.
Would a person capable of plotting out such an elegant supporting detail, make such a stupid mistaken assumption that LE would not follow basic procedures and treat the home as a possible crime scene or look hard at the spouse in the possible murder of the missing wife?

"...such an elegant supporting detail."
Exactly how does letting the dog run loose on his leash to help support your "made up" story that your wife was walking her when she was abducted (far from where you actually killed here and don't want the police to look) BECOME "...such an ELEGANT supporting detail???"
For crying-out-loud, it's the only support you have for this made-up-baloney-story. HE's the one who concocted the scenario! If he dreams up a story that says his wife was walking the dog don't you find it logical that the dog would either have been abducted along with her and has disappeared , or THAT IT'S FOUND WANDERING THE NEIGHBORHOOD REINFORCING HIS STORY???
I've blanched at some of your posts over the years that never made sense, but this is a beauty. An "...elegant supporting detail my eye!" LOL.
In the heat of the moment he was smart enough to hide the body so no one could find it. He was logical enough to attempt a clean-up and dream up the fishing story.
But letting the dog run loose,...oh no, that is a genius touch that only Moriarity could perpetrate on Holmes!
To: Valpal1
One more point I find interesting. The neighbor said that the side gate was open when the dog was returned to the yard. What would a dog do that was left in the back yard with a leash on and an open side gate?
