You would expect that in a running river it might take a long time, but you would think in a lake unless they are weighted down they would be found sooner than a year.

Yeah, I agree but have no expertise in this area. I think bodies can be bogged down in silt. And, think of Chandra ... it still is amaziing to me that they couldn't find her body so close to the search!!!

Yes that is amazing. But what is even more amazing is talk show host Michael Savage still thinks they haven't found her. :-)
