Saddam sees himself as the King of Babylon, Nebuchadnezzar was his name of Daniel's time. He has almost rebuilt the old city of Babylon, except the hanging gardens, and has tried to find someone to duplicate them.

The thing that Saddam has overlooked was that Nebuchadnezzar was converted and changed his ways, however his grandson Belshazzar is more like Saddam. He Belshazzar has a big party and used the golden and silver vessels that were taken out of the temple in Jerusalem:

They drank wine and praised the gods of gold, and of silver, and of brass, of iron, of wood, and of stone. In the same hour came forth fingers of a man's hand, and wrote over against the candlestick upon the plaister of the wall of the king's palace: and the king saw the part of the hand that wrote.
