They're not against stability, per se. It's more of a cultural mindset. The basis of the leftist worldview is the reliance upon "rationality". It's simply irrational to them to resort to force. They believe that a "rational" approach, where eveyone sits down and talks about resolving their differences, can solve any problem. BorrowStealing the name of a Medo-Persian historical icon would overwind quite a few gahtras, the traditional arab head covers. :) Actually, co-opting the name would enrage the Iraqi people. Like we ought to be anyway, whether or not Saddam called his first WTC attack "Operation Lexingtion."
