Florida Man Arrested On Overdue Library Book Charges
Posted: 9:54 a.m. EST January 24, 2003
A man who had overdue library books was arrested. Kevin Crookman was five years overdue on returning three books to the Clearwater Public Library.
The 27-year-old had ignored a letter sent in 1998 ordering him to appear in court on the charges.
Crook was a passenger in a car pulled over by a Pinellas sheriff's deputy. When his name was run through a computer, it showed he was wanted for failing to show up in court on the overdue library book charge.
Crook spent the night in jail before a judge released him. He faces charges under a 1996 ordinance allowing libraries to prosecute the worst scofflaws in county court, where they face a 500 dollar fine per book.
However, Clearwater officials said they don't intend to pursue the charge against him, meaning it probably will be dismissed.
From ThomasJefferson's profile page: "Location: CHGO BURBS... Profession: Stock trader"
Even people who've never been to Chicago are aware of its unique Italian, Polish and German cultural heritage. But Chicago is also home to the near-legendary Chicago stock trader and their reputation as one of the most obnoxious, egocentric and self-absorbed group of people ever to inflict itself on this earth. All in all, they represent the very flower of Libertarianism.
A few years ago, during a visit to Chicago, I had the distinct pleasure of watching one these pimples-on-the-butt-of-humanity get yanked out of his car and receive a well deserved thrashing after he made the mistake of acting out one his "Get out of the way, I'm more important that you are" temper tantrums in public. Only a passing cop saved the miscreant from a much worse fate being inflicted by this angry crowd (and the cop was none too pleased at having to rescue such vermin).
Say Tommy J., you don't perhaps drive a white Mercedes-Benz with a couple of fist-sized dents in the hood, do you?
LOL!

LOL! Keep up the great writing! (Um, if TJ had a passenger in his car, would that constitute socialism?)
The personal responsibility shirkers, dreaders, and whiners can just file this report under "Actions Have Consequences." BooHooHoo.
strela: posts 23 through 42!
You have mail, BTW. :-)
Fat Librarian - "You know, Mr. Bundy, I've worked at this library for 44 years. I was eligible for retirement three years ago. You know why I stayed?"
Al - "You learned to eat books?"
Fat Librarian - "You're a horrible little boy. I kept this job for one reason. I knew I'd nail you, and I did. Pat Garrett got Billy The Kid, and I finally got you! My job is over, today is my last day."
Willful ignorance is your long suit.
Why, that scheming marxist!
(yawn, stretch)
Must have been pretty sordid - there are some gaps in that sequence. Goooooooood ...
So, let me get this straight - the public library is now the paramount clear and present danger to true, constitutionally-based self-government in the US? The little old lady in tennis shoes who shushes unruly patrons is really a jackbooted drain on the taxpayer and probably participates in drug raids on innocent hippies in her spare time? I knew it - I've been trying to nail that old broad for something ever since she shushed me for laughing OUT LOUD while I was reading "Mad Magazine - A Cultural Anthology" back when I was 13. She damaged my self-esteem and caused me great stress - now its payback time. I say STRING HER UP BY HER SUPPORT HOSE!
(sarcasm OFF)
It was a private library, it used no force.
You look like a moron ,,,,again.
"Why didnt the army draft you kid?"
"I had some overdue books once."
Once again, American pop music proves prophetic ...
"You can check out any time you like,
But you can never leave ..."
The Eagles, "Hotel California"
What a big fool you are. You really ought to stick with subjects where you know what you are talking about, such as Prince Kropotkin, Pierre-Joseph Proudhon, Errico Malatesta, and Sacco and Vanzetti.
