I think everything anyone in this Administration says is carefully calculated to confuse Saddam. And it appears to be working.

IMO, if Sadaam was eased out of Iraq without war, part of the terms would be a heavy US/UK presence in Iraq to find the weapons and get rid of the rest of the Nazis.

Don Rumsfeld, perhaps the sharpest thinker in the cabinet, must know all this. So the only reason hed say such a thing is that wars going to start any day now. Isnt it?My fondest wish is that Bush will say, in his SotU speech next Tue, that the bombing has just begun.
Won't happen, but I'd like it.
To: Pokey78
Mr. Steyn is slipping. I think Bush is exactly on his timetable. The war will probably take place in February, the best time of year in the area, just like the first Gulf War. And that's been the plan for the past year.

I wonder if there are any conflicted nudists, with a bush for Iraq and a rack for Bush. Still, we should be grateful that theyve got pudenda to rally. In Iraq, according to Harold Pinter, millions of children are born without genitals. Something to do with depleted uranium, the Great Satans calling card. I love Mark Steyn.

I hope extra special precautions are taken to ensure that Saddam doesnt escape. We need a confirmed kill this time. Imagine the outcry from the left if there is no confirmation.

I don't have a problem with Rumsfeld's statement and I don't think he's going soft on Iraq. We are going into Iraq one way or another. Either by force or by invitation. For our people it would be much better if they were invited, as the loss of life would be far less. Rumsfeld also knows the likelihood of Saddam leaving voluntarily is very remote. Rumsfeld is simply putting the onerous on Saddam to avoid war.
