Once iraq goes, the rest will roll over like poodles.
The more successful our anti-terrorist efforts are, the more roaches will creep out to condemn the "war-mongers". They didn't dare write crap like this when blobs of our people were being scraped off smoldering beams in New York and Washington.
Except that we went to war with this country and have continually occupied it (while still being attacked by anti-aircraft missles). There is no reason to expect the Iraqi forces to have improved, especially morale-wise. No Iraqi Gulf War vet will be confident. OTOH the US military capability is vastly improved.
Most lacking in discussions of the possible war is the likelihood of major terrorist attacks against the United States, the impact of Iraq use of weapons of mass destruction on U.S. forces, problems of urban warfare, terrorist interests in attacking U.S. allies, and the nature a serious attack on the U.S. economy and the dollar might take and its consequence.
Iraq has been behind these attacks. No Arab country likes or supports Saddam. The economy may just as easily improve after Saddam is ousted, especially if the war ends up being an almost bloodless coup. I fail to see why urban warfare will necessarily be employed, when a strict blockade would starve the Iraqis out very quickly, with little danger of US casualties.
There is a growing concern at senior levels within the U.S. military that a war with Iraq will not be a short in-and-out operation, is more likely to involve tens or hundreds of thousands of casualties rather than mere hundreds, and that long-term occupation of Iraq and perhaps other Middle East countries has to follow.
The destabilization and liberation of the Middle East could be the best humanitarian result since the fall of the Soviet Union.
"Perhaps the most glaring omission is any significant consideration respecting 1) a new wave of terrorism against the United States that should be anticipated following a U.S. attack on Iraq."
The "new wave of terror retaliation" is the big card France and Germany are using to scare hell out of Europe and away from any alliance with the U.S.
I have no doubt that if the truth be known, Schroeder privately danced with glee when he saw the WTC crubmling before his eyes saying - "Yes - Yes!!"
France and Germany are now teaming up as they see American engrossed financially, politically, and militarily in the war on terror.
Mexico is even jumping onboard taking the U.S. to the world court for exercising the death penalty on Mexican murderers executed in the U.S. for their crimes.
Stay tuned for more on France and Germany teaming up at this critical and historical crossroads as they join together to build a greater European Economic Union. The EEU will soon follow, and Germany will not wait long before they demand our military leave their soil (mark my words on that).
In the midst of it all, the Democrats are coming in from the shadows with their long daggers waiting for the opportune time to strike as deadly a blow to President Bush's War on Terror - calling it an attack on minorities and doing everything they can to weaken it for their own political gains.

LETS ROLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The title's funny; if war doesn't come to the Middle East, and if we don't put these bastards down, once and for all, then really, Really, REALLY get ready for the worst.
What a wimp!
Thank God (that's right, Thank God!) our forefathers weren't so cowardly.
Some things are worth fighting and dying for.
Were I still a resident of Northern CA, I would have happily volunteered my time debating the anti-war faction in high schools.
However, I have been living happily in Texas for over 20 years. Living in the very suburban enclave of Valley Ranch (new home of The Tuna), the debates revolve around 'what the hell are we waiting for?'
